One of the things that rubbed people the wrong way about Trump is he was blunt and impolite. He was crass. It was understood by his supporters and in this era of soundbite news, being short and direct works a lot better than nuance.
Lately, I have seen a lot of policy ideas, academic papers and even had conversations with intelligent people in which everyone has been polite. If you are smart, you like to chew on topics and ideas. It pays to keep an open mind. Strong opinions loosely held as it were.
But sometimes it is just a waste of time.
Yesterday, when Joe Biden announced he wanted to institute new taxes on people that have over $100MM, this thought occurred to me. Respectfully Mr. President and your staff, it’s wrong. As my old pal from Chicago says, “Respectfully” is the business code for FU.
I don’t want to go into all the why’s the President has proposed a stupid idea. The idea has no potential for intelligence.
In the recent Supreme Court confirmation hearings when the candidate told the Senator she wasn’t a biologist and couldn’t answer the question about gender, I think it’s okay to tell her she is just wrong. People are born women and men and in our society right now the people who believe there are differences are losing out to the people who believe you can be any gender you want, biology and Darwin be damned.
As a parent of daughters, I would have hated to see them practice and dedicate their lives to an athletic endeavor only to be beaten by a boy posing as a girl that was allowed to compete so we wouldn’t hurt anyone’s feelings.
When we hear that math is racist, it’s just wrong. 2+2=4 isn’t racist. It’s not anything. It’s just the ancient practice of math. Math is hard because you have to train your brain to think differently.
When you want to serve up communism or socialism as a way to structure society and tell me capitalism is unfair, it’s just wrong. Communism and socialism have never been fair. They won’t ever be fair. Hint; Capitalism is the fairest way to organize society.
In some things, there are gray areas. But, too often we are polite when we know that the lines are clear, bright, and easily drawn.
Maybe to reinforce the point on women's sports, conservatives ought to recruit and setup male teams to pose as females and compete. Do it in ice hockey, softball, basketball and soccer. The team sports.
The Left has weaponized the propensity of conservatives and right-leaning people to state things in stark terms of right and wrong. When a conservative says, "Abortion is wrong," a Leftist will essentially resort to psychological warfare to make the statement into something entirely different: "You are anti-woman!" They understand that conservatives often have much to lose, in the way of reputation, character, business interests and privacy concerns, so they will attack the security of these things by "exposing" your stance to other Leftists and Cancellers.
While you are absolutely correct about plainly speaking, the Right needs to have more courage than otherwise, because the Left will always pretend to have the moral upper hand, even if they don't. They have an uncanny skill of distortion, using euphemisms to appeal to people's emotions that you are now a bigoted Monster, and that you should be shunned. I believe they get their well of ideas from the Academy -- Leftist professors. It's where their terms come from, like Critical "XYZ." To the Left, everything is "nuanced" and requires "deeper thought" which simply means they have to think of ways to normalize it.
Our black and white moral absolutes are a garish beacon that we are unsophisticated and backwards. And because they are self-righteous scolds, they loudly and emotionally attack us personally, because they know it tends to work. Refer to Libs of Tik Tok for their rage sessions at Republicans. They plainly hate us, because we don't agree with them.
The Right has felt frustrated for years by the apologizing Republican Squishes, and wants fighters. This is absolutely a culture war, and the Left is absolutely looking to fundamentally change every institution we used to love.
I used to think that saying that the Left "hates America" was hyperbole. I no longer think this, and see that they really do; they despise our way of life. I cannot totally figure out why, as it seems highly irrational, when you examine all of the gifts of life that we have -- especially compared to other countries. The closest thing I can figure out is that they vehemently despise consumerism, brashness, American Exceptionalism, and religion. They think our culture is vulgar. How many times have you seen a Progressive scorn at Walmart or someone's "huge" pick-up truck? But then the guy with the pick up shows up to fix their roof and many liberals are out there giving the heat-exhausted roofers lemonade on a hot day. It's cognitive dissonance to me. To me, they are snobs and moral scolds with a decent vocabulary, because they were given an elite education but absorbed zero working class empathy.
So we have to bring our "A" game when we tell them what we think is right and wrong. They already have their talking points and will set their cancellation machine in motion. We have our numbers, and we should start using them.
