We flew back to Las Vegas yesterday. I am cheap, and I don’t have any travel miles or perks like that from my job as an independent speculator and independent venture capitalist, so I generally cram my 6’5” frame into coach. My corporate friends get all those perks. I am sort of jealous. We are planning a trip to France next November and I am trying to figure out how to work the system. I wouldn’t call myself a savvy traveler since I didn’t do it a lot in my career.
If anyone from the airline industry reads this, make it so coach seats cannot recline at all. But, I digress.
Because I knew I couldn’t bend my right knee, I booked a first-class ticket on American from Chicago to Las Vegas. I booked so far in advance, that my wife and I could sit in the bulkhead.
The American Airlines curbside check-in people were amazing. The American Airlines gate people were wonderful. The flight attendants on board were really really great and I will look past the Black Lives Matter pin one of them had on. She treated me really great.
I could get used to first class. Wow. I even received some ice cream and my wife told me not to get used to it. I am on her diet now but I need to lose about 20-30 lbs anyway.
The wheelchair operation at O’Hare is a Keystone Cop organization. The person who wheeled me to the gate was unbelievably rude to me and my wife. Sad. The guy in Vegas that wheeled me from the gate to pick-up was amazing. Big difference between Chicago and Vegas. One city prides itself as a service town. In the other, authority is to be served by the little people.
Midwest Orthopedics at Rush is top notch but if you lived in Chicago or the Midwest you probably already knew that. My PT’s on South State all were super good too. I am using Tim Soder PT in Vegas. Bryce Harper goes there so it’s got to be good.
It’s good to be back in Vegas and see the sun and the mountains. 28 more days until I can walk again.
No figure skating for you!
