My little town in W. Colorado (Cedaredge) has a lot of stuff like that. Currently a Songwriter's Workshop/Festival is organizing for the 3rd or 4th year in a row, in April I believe. And our Apple Fest every first weekend in October brings thousands (far more than our meager 2k population.)

Small towns are where the spirit still lives.

Sounds like a great trip. My wife and I need to experience this event! Thanks.

This whole scene and recounting makes me smile. You are bringing humanism to the race.

Delightful stuff, I'm sure. But does "cowboy poetry" really deserve federal government support, as disgraced corrupt Senator Harry Reid demanded in 2011?

I don't think it does. There are people that write checks to support it. It's a good cause. I wrote a check. I almost bought a side of beef in the auction. Might have to go back and pick up some steaks.

You would enjoy Michael Martin Murphey’s Cowboy Songs. He released subsequent Cowboy Songs albums after this first one.

He has long been associated with the Elko event, and in fact, he’s playing there tonight.

A bunch of old white people gathered to enjoy good 'ol American culture and having fun? Hum, surprised the protestors didn't show up! Wish that I were there!

I can see Zohran on horseback, sporting his cowboy hat and lasso, rounding up his herd for slaughter.

Our ole cowpoke Ro Khanna was there....it was all I could do not to troll him. Hey Ro, you moving to Nevada after you pass the wealth tax?
