We are at the onset of an Artificial Intelligence revolution. A lot of people are scared of it. They think it threatens their livelihood. Some are worried about mind control. Still, some are discounting what we have today, saying it doesn’t work, not realizing that there is a tomorrow. There is a lot of uncertainty regarding AI and how it will work.
Here is what I know for certain.
AI models are trained on datasets. They ingest the data and spit out answers.
When we had our VC fund, we saw a lot of AI trading apps. First, we didn’t understand why the entrepreneur just didn’t start a hedge fund if the app was so good. As former traders, we understood the edge, and you’d do anything to keep your edge. Second, we always asked what kind of dataset they trained on. Shitty data in, shitty data out.
Is there some proprietary dataset or way to manipulate data in the trading world that would give you a continuous edge? No. If so, start a hedge fund. Easier and more lucrative.
However, yesterday’s assassination of Charlie Kirk brought to mind other datasets. Left-wing socialists are going to the public LLMs and saying that “right-wing violence is more prevalent than left-wing violence. See, Grok, Perplexity, ChatGPT, Gemini say so.” Remember, it was Gemini that gave us the Black George Washington.
Where are these LLMs trained?
Sites like Reddit.
“Reddit's position in the artificial intelligence ecosystem strengthened during the quarter. The company noted it has become the most cited domain for AI across all models, per data collected by Profound. CEO Steve Huffman emphasized in the shareholder letter that "Reddit is the #1 most cited domain for AI across all models."
Have you been on Reddit? It’s not a “decentralized model” of social media like Twitter. It is a highly centralized model with lots of different subcategories. The moderators rule on Reddit, and 99% of them are pretty left-wing. Criticize global warming, and you get banned. Trust me, I know. For me, Reddit is read-only. Can’t comment there.
When you read comments, it’s full of falsehoods in many cases-especially if it’s at all political. That’s also the case when commenting on seemingly innocent topics like where to visit on vacation or where to move. “Don’t move to Florida because of global warming.” Idiots.
But sites like Reddit need conservative voices. So does X. So do other sites. Wikipedia is actively monitored by the hard left. If an LLM trains on Wikipedia, what will it spit out on a query?
Some LLMs accept corrections. If you do a search on an LLM and get data you know is off or incorrect, submit a correction. I have done this with Grok.
Social media has only been with us for about 20 years if you go back to the founding of sites like MySpace. It takes 30 years to fully ingest and manifest innovation into society. Literally, the older generation has to die off. What will the next ten years bring?
If the Biden Administration had had its way, no free speech. Obama and Biden worked with compliant social media CEOs to restrict speech. That’s why Elon Musk bought Twitter and turned it into X.
What does the world look like without conservative voices? You get Black George Washington. You get the 1619 project. You get an alternative history. You get alternative economics. You get the NY Times and mainstream media of today. You get the public school system as it stands today. Teachers across the country were celebrating the murder of Charlie Kirk.
That’s how LLMs say violence is equal. But remember this. Black Lives Matter isn’t categorized as a violent terrorist organization. Last night in Idaho, when there was a vigil in front of the state capitol and the head of the local BLM office drove his car through the vigil shouting, “Fuck Charlie Kirk,” that wasn’t violent in the LLM world. That’s how they get to the statistics they spit out.
A functioning democratic republic is participatory. You don’t have to run for office. But you have to participate beyond voting. You can’t sit back. That is, unless you want to lose it.
The beginning of this podcast, Tucker speaks with ChatGPT CEO Sam Altman on LLMs, their data, and how they make decisions. It’s worth a listen.
It will be interesting to see what Chat GPT spits out once the LLMs ingest Reddit's comments about the Charlie Kirk assassination from yesterday. It wasn't just celebration. It included postings of their wish lists for future assassinations.
We're in a death spiral. An evermore powerful, amoral artificial intelligence being fed and trained by the violent, mentally ill will not end well.
I suggest anyone interested in mass violence read Death by Government by R. J. Rummel. The left has committed far more acts of violence than the right...but all for a good cause of course.
