→ Speaking of Cool Kids: Hasan Piker, a leading socialist political influencer among Gen Z and younger Millennials, is having a lot of fun. Piker, a handsome and very charismatic 30-year-old, does his progressive prostleyzing via a platform called Twitch where he livestreams himself explaining what he sees as the hellscape that is capitalism to a rapt young audience.
(If you haven’t heard of Twitch or Piker, he live streams for many, many hours a day here.)
Piker’s content is very, very popular content, and it has incidentally made him quite rich. He recently bought himself a $2.7 million Los Angeles house and this week was featured in a cool video picking up his new $200,000 Porsche Taycan (soundtrack: “La la la la wait til I get my money”). The old phrase champagne socialist doesn’t do this one justice. He’s not stealing from anyone a la BLM—whose shadiness and financial corruption seems truly without end. Piker’s adoring fans just give him money to keep talking about how awful money is.
The above is from Bari Weiss. You should be reading her. The reason I highlight it is that socialism never changes. The leaders of the BLM movement can’t account for their money and bought million-dollar-plus homes too.
Do you think that anyone at the top of the pyramid in a socialist/communist country lives like the proletariats they steal from? There has never been a time they did.
Do you think if we get socialized, or as they euphemistically say it nationalized, health care, the people at the top will have to go through the same process you do? When there are food shortages, fuel shortages and electric shortages, think they will do without?
Wake up.
Good News Story of the Day: If you didn't see this Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau ordered the military to clear the truckers away and out from Ottawa. The military declined. Trudeau is an elite liberal who would embrace socialism.
Unfortunately, envy (once considered one of the seven deadly sins) is ubiquitous amongst the human race. Far too many people, when they realize they are not going live their dreams vocationally, become envious and bitter toward those who are doing "better" (whatever that means) than they are.
This happens most easily in societies that have abandoned Judeo/Christian values which teaches that stealing and envy are literally deadly sins.
Poll after poll has shown that these bitter, envious people would rather everyone be worse off or poor (socialism), than for most people to be doing well with a few folks at the top and the bottom (capitalism).
Want a real world example? During the 2008 Democratic Primary Debate then candidate Obama said he would raise capital gains tax rates. One of the panelists, Charlie Gibson, actually committed journalism by pointing out that revenues actually drop when cap gains tax rates are raised and revenues increase when rates are lowered. What follows is Obama's response.
Well, Charlie, what I’ve said is that I would look at raising the capital gains tax for purposes of fairness.“
In other words, it is about punishing the successful more than it is about increasing revenue.
This as always been the MO of the left when it comes to your money. They want it and they can't be bothered to earn their own.
