Have a Thoughtful Veterans Day
Celebrate the Vet in Your Family or the Ones That Touched Your Life
Today is Veteran’s Day. It’s a happy day. You celebrate the vets that made it back from whatever they were doing when they were in one of the Armed Services.
At the National World War Two Museum, they always have a great Veteran’s Day program. There is a new online exhibit, Expressions of America, that you can check out and learn from.
I was thinking about it today as I scrolled through social media.
My middle school had a lot of teachers that were WW2 veterans. Our assistant dean, Henry Hauser was a medic at Bastogne. My basketball coach Richard Tosky, was a marine wounded at Iwo Jima. One time he showed us his scar. My history teacher, Gordon Teichmann was a Marine and fought in the Pacific. By the time we hit middle school, they were towards the end of their careers.
Each of them touched my life in a different way. I am grateful for that, and for their service.
