I am always so incredibly touched when non-Jews (I’ve assumed you aren’t Jewish) take the time to stand up and speak out. And today Israel celebrates day 844 and finally, there are no hostages in Gaza…

Amazing, no hostages. I am not Jewish. But, I am a big supporter of Israel, but more importantly have a lot of good friends who are Jewish.

Thanks for sharing this. I had the good fortune to meet Rob when I attended a teacher seminar at the WWII Museum 7 years ago. Smart guy, excellent teacher. I'm going to show this to my classes tomorrow (since we haven't been in school this week due to the snow). When my daughter was studying abroad in Prague two years ago, she visited this camp that Mr. Rubin talks about. She said that she sensed ghosts in the bathroom facilities......

I love WWII history and love the WWII Museum. I attended a Band of Brothers Reunion Symposium there a few years ago. I can't wait to go back.

I have said too many times that WWII vets are turning over in their graves with the current state of blatant, in your face anti-semitism that is going on in this world today, especially in the US.

I have seen Leo Melamed but never have met him. I am guessing he likes to sell short. If I have the chance to meet him, I will defintely confirm.

Leo LOVES to be short! I used to tease him about it all the time.

Anyone who does not believe the Holocaust occurred should go to Europe and visit one of the former concentration camps. While stationed in West Germany I visited the Dachau Concentration Camp Museum twice. It was a sobering experience and shows the depths of barbarism mankind can sink to. Unfortunately the Holocaust was not the first event of its kind, nor the last. We need to remember this, so we can hopely, prevent it from occurring again.

Deniers make me mad. What Tim Walz did the other day made me mad too. Eisenhower had it filmed and photographed because he knew what would happen

Probably our most underrated President. His insistence upon recording for history the heinous atrocities which occurred has been integral in fighting deniers. It has also been integral in getting legislation passed to make Holocaust Education mandatory in many curricula.

For sure. Spent a day at Dachau while serving in Germany just before the Wall came down... The absolute horror these people went through was astounding.

I am not quite sure how to say this so give me a little leeway here... I absolutely love and respect Orthodox Jews and those that practice that life, but the ones like Mark Zuckerberg who practices "Reform Judaism" - some of the wealthiest people in the world - are... not the best citizens of any society. They are the ones that are behind globalism, et al, and generally making things worse for everyone 'below' them.

I have spent a day at Dachau, no words can explain the horror that went on there.

It is appalling and mind blowing to see the likes of anti Jewish Jews in the world.

I think as Mr Zuckerberg gets older and matures his pro liberal ways have been somewhat tempered and he will be an interesting"case study"to watch in terms of his attitude toward conservative politics and sensibility over the next decade. I wish I could say the same for many other liberal technocrats, of all faiths, but I don't know that will be the case. Larry Ellison is probably another good example of a Member of the Tribe who seems to be getting more conservative.

In the past two and a half years, especially since October 7th of 2023, and the frighteningly exponential growth of anti-Semitism emanating from the political left, I have seen a huge double-digit percentage shift of reform in (Conservative in faith) Jews moving politically to the right, as I am in multiple Jewish groups on social media. It's been a welcoming thing to see and the trend has been continuing.

In particular, a handful of social media groups comprised of conservative Jews have seen growth in the past two years 100 fold! Yes, pretty remarkable and encouraging.

Thank you for this. It is important to stand for the moral and right thing, especially when some seem to have forgotten how evil anti-semitism is.

You’ve been lucky to know some fabulous folks, Jeff.

Jeffrey Carter's avatar

So incredibly lucky.

Great post.

Does the right have the guts to dump their postliberals who are way too accepting of antisemitism in their midst? It's going to be quite an internal battle. Trump seems to keep on inviting Qtarlson to meetings. I could probably convince a few friends to vote for Rubio. Not a chance for Vance. There's going to be more storm before any calm.

Jeffrey Carter's avatar

They do. They are hard to stamp out. Fuentes is poison.

BillD's avatar

Qatarlson is the poison. Fuentes is a fringe figure with no real power or influence. Imagine if Pat Buchanan had successfully taken over the Rs at the end of the 20th century.

Jeffrey Carter's avatar

I see your point. I met with a person with a lot of influence in the Jewish community, both right wing and left wing. He's very wary of Fuentes, and so I think we need to be too. His kind have to be reprogrammed.

It's a shame we're no longer in middle school, because he was the kind of kid we would have to, and sometimes did, meet at the bike rack after school.
