Over the past several years, I have gotten more cynical. I don’t like being cynical. When I was trading, it paid to be objective, but not overly cynical.
But, given the events of the past several years, I am finding it pays to be a cynic.
When breaking news on some potentially politicized topic happens, you have to institute a 24-hour or at least a 48-hour rule to see what’s really behind the curtain.
When I heard about Omicron, I got really cynical.
Covid just isn’t that serious based on objective data. When 99.98% of people recover, it’s not serious. When virtually no healthy human being under the age of 25 has died across the world, it’s not serious. Don’t give me numbers on cases. Who cares? Those numbers are meaningless. Deaths matter, but more importantly it’s who is dying.
What we have seen is that Covid kills people over 70 that have other health problems. It’s not exclusive to that class, but its lethality there is documented. The thing not being said is many of those people would have passed soon anyway.
The vaccine so far has proven to be suspect. It certainly doesn’t stop you from getting Covid. LeBron James, double MRNA vaxxed, just came down with Covid. Other public figures like coaches and athletes that are vaxxed have come down with Covid.
So, we upended our total way of life for that. We wrecked worldwide supply chains for this.
Recently, we saw the left-wing garner a lot of losses.
They lost Virginia
They lost several smaller local elections
They lost Rittenhouse
Their media mouthpieces have been exposed for what they are, shills
They failed to pass anything meaningful in the House or Senate
Inflation is sky-high and we are trending toward STAGflation
Biden’s poll numbers are in the tank, and his VP is worse.
Democratic politicians are retiring
The idiocy is being exposed. Who nominates a communist to run our banking system?
The Democrats need something. Their own internal polling shows a rout in November of 2022. How can they change the narrative?
Fear.
Enter Omicron.
What’s the goal? To keep people living in fear and to push through initiatives on voting that promote fraud like mail-in ballots. With mail-in ballots, Democrats can rig elections. Ballot harvesting, a specialty of theirs, is not possible unless you have early voting and mail-in.
Today it was revealed the first found Omicron case was in California. California is one of the strictest states on Covid policy. Masks, lockdowns, and all kinds of restrictions permeate the state crushing the civil liberties of Americans. Hey, that Chinese apologist LeBron lives in LA too!
When will we start naming variants of different colds that are moving around the world?
Don’t let them lead you by fear. Stand up to them.
39 and a half million people here, but blame me. To see the MSM pump O-my-a-ca-tron with such breathtaking precision, amazing. Megatron should be the next codeword. Bunch of Decepticons, all of them.
Please, do remain cynical. It is the hallmark of having a brain that actually works.
The temperature here is largely unchanged and, dare I say it, most seem pretty much bored with covid drama. This time last year, there was a fire in the air, and everyone freaking out. Now, you can pick your spots to feature a compliance mask and the sides have reached a bit of equilibrium. Maybe different in LA and SF.
Standing up in defiance : )
.
Brilliant commentary as usual. Bravo.
As a COVID survivor in the most worrisome group, I can personally vouch for the notion that it is a survivable thing.
As you say, it is really only a danger to a very small portion of the US -- old folks with co-morbidities in a nation with a life expectancy of 78.8 years.
Total deaths in the US from all causes is almost 3MM with 352,000 deaths related to COVID in 2020 and a trend toward 450,000 for 2021 -- more COVID deaths in 2021 than 2020.
To put that into further perspective -- heart disease kills about 700,000 and cancer 600,000 annually.
In our flop sweat panic, we have destroyed innumerable small business, incurred massive amounts of generational debt, and destroyed many of our institutions -- based on weak leadership, poor decisionmaking, and stupidity.
