Staying The Course
I listened to this discussion today and thought it was very good. Listen to the rest of the podcast because it is very good too.
First, I am not a lawyer and I never played one on television. I go with my gut. Megyn Kelly is a lawyer. For those that are new here, welcome. I am a free market small government pro-life conservative. I traded my own money successfully most of the time on the floor of CME for 25 years and had a blast most of the time doing it. I invested a bunch of money successfully into startups when trading went computerized, and after I lost 2/3rds of my net worth, and had a blast doing that. For those government people who lost their jobs recently who might be reading this, I do not suggest investing in startups as a way out, but I do suggest working for a startup as a way out. It’s a really risky business with a long learning curve.
My daughter is a litigator and a Northwestern Law graduate. As you know, when your kids go to school, you sort of go to school with them. I learned a lot about the law when she went through school, though I am not an expert. See above. One thing I learned is that common sense things that seem to be self-evident to regular people like you and me are not common sense when it comes to the law. The law is very different.
The Democratic Party is at all time lows in approval. No one is buying communism or socialism. When an issue comes up, they are stupid. They take the short straw every time. In 80/20 or 70/30 issues, they take the minority.
Additionally, they are trying to astroturf the US. Tesla has been their target. Yesterday, someone vandalized, or should I say terrorized, a Tesla dealer in Las Vegas but it’s happening all over the country. Someone somewhere is paying for it. This is not organic, though there are enough Democrats who are mentally ill who might.
The Dems are trying to stir up some outrage over deporting illegal alien criminals, deporting Visa-holding radical professors that side with terrorists, and deporting Green Card holders that are similar. They are trying to get people to think like lawyers and not like common sense people. The lawsuits are just throwing sand in the gears.
I have no trouble deporting any illegal alien. People wait in line a long time to come here and jump through a lot of bureaucratic hoops. Illegals make them look like chumps and it is not right. Gary Becker’s immigration way is the best way. It is the free market small government way to solve immigration. Ironically, Trump’s $5MM Gold Card idea mimics Becker in a way. It’s not exactly like Becker, but it is on the right track and better than some of the other procedures we use today.
Visa holders aren’t entitled to stay here any more than if I hold a visa in another country I am entitled to stay there. In this case, it’s a professor. So, I agree a bit sticky. The government shouldn’t dictate what is taught in a classroom per se. However, should we allow radical Islamists who side with the people who hate us to be given a platform?
We did have communists, and still do, teaching while Soviet Russia was engaging in a Cold War with us. Hence the stickiness. I think it should make you uncomfortable inside when a Visa holding professor is deported no matter who it is. But, if you look at the facts, and use a little common sense, deporting Rasha Alawiegh seems reasonable.
I never liked the fact that American citizens like Bill Ayers could teach in a classroom. It seems in the 70s all the radicals from the 60s went into education and maybe that’s why public education is the way it is today.
I do agree with Trump on students. If you are a foreign exchange student and you are going to an American school, don’t engage in a protest supporting Anti-American positions. Yup, I am a big free speech advocate but I don’t have to let you in my country if you hate my country or support organizations that want to destroy my country. Seems like common sense.
What about people with green card status? I looked up the legalities and yes, if you have a green card, you can still be deported. There was a list of things that allowed the government to deport you. On an immigration law website I found this:
Some reasons that green card holders can be deported may include:
Termination of conditional permanent resident status;
Knowingly helping someone enter into the United States illegally;
Committing marriage fraud;
Committing crimes of moral turpitude, including murder, rape, incest, kidnapping, theft, or fraud;
Committing an aggravated felony;
Committing a high-speed flight from an immigration checkpoint;
Failure to register as a sex offender;
Conviction of drug or firearm crimes;
Failure to establish a permanent residence or abandonment of permanent residence; or
Involvement in espionage, sabotage, or violations or evasions of any law prohibiting the export of goods, technology, or sensitive information, or in any other criminal activity that is a danger to public safety or national security.
This list is not extensive, and in some cases, you may be eligible to apply for a waiver to avoid deportation.
Again, for an interesting discussion on all this, Megyn Kelly debated Glenn Greenwald.
All of these reasons seem like common sense reasons to deport someone. This article is interesting to read and seems objective. If you came to the US, got a green card, and are a pro-Hamas supporter, should you be deported?
I think if you just go about your life and don’t lead protests or destroy public/private property, sure stay. I don’t agree with them. But, if you take over a college library and organize a protest, maybe you should leave. Isn’t that common sense?

Outrage over deporting iIlegal alien criminals?
These same toads want your daughter to lose to a 6'4" dude while also having to watch him naked in the woman's locker room.
Common sense, here we come! Thanks as always for a great post!
You used the word "chump." This summarizes everything. The American people are chumps and are being played by special interests every day. From the abuse and corruption of what the word "aid" should apply to (hunger, illness not gay rights in Afghanistan), to ten cent district judges issuing orders that airplanes in flight turn around. Immigration policies that reward law breakers at the expense of taxpayers and on and on. And people like Schumer get offended when people finally start to complain. Our common decency and generosity is being abused.
