Couldn't agree more with you Jeff! What I see as one of the biggest problems in the country is the governors and both houses of many states don't have a clue about managing budgets. They also don't seem to understand that a big part of their jobs is "good stewardship" of state finances. These people continue to tax and borrow money to pay for services that promote cronyism over spending cuts to balance budgets.

Look no further than the big 3 of Illinois, New York and California for blatant examples of this kind of irresponsibility! Maybe you can start a trend of correcting these problems Jeff!

Good luck and God bless, MFOX

Good luck. I hope you win to help your state and our nation. There is a lot of evil and corruption in our government and in our society. But there is good too.

To several of your points, we have a huge problem in Cook County right now regarding tax bills being sent out late and therefore tax receipts coming in late.

The crux of the problem is the installation of new software that links three County offices, the County Assessor, the County Clerk and the County Treasurer. The County is finally upgrading from their 1970s IBM mainframe, literally 20th century technology.

Without a doubt this is a very complex and technical task to implement a custom made system. One big mistake was that the County did not keep the old system up and running parallel.

This is the third year this has happened in the last four years due to the implementation. There has been a lot of finger pointing being done between the County and the vendor. There is no doubt the vendor is culpable but the vendor has also publicly stated that the County Treasurer’s office dropped the ball and did not so the work they were supposed to do.

This year has been even more egregious because even after the Treasurer’s office did receive the tax receipts they sat on them and didn’t distribute them in a timely fashion. They had no backup plan.

The delay in sending out the tax bills and the delay in distributing the funds have cost many taxing bodies, particularly school districts to lose millions of dollars in interest earnings and some had to issue TAWs (Tax Anticipation Warrants) to meet cash flow needs which increases their interest expenses.

It's great that you are running and sharing about the process!!!

Charlaton. Hum, one comes to mind, the Governor of CA. The guy who thinks that ICE wearing masks is authoritarian government overreach. The same guy who made you wear a mask while walking on an empty beach. But I may loathe Karen Bass even more!

Good article, and the last three paragraphs will make for outstanding campaign literature because it's spot on truth.
