In summer, I have been spending two to three months in Grand Marais, MN for the last six years. I have been coming up to these cabins for the last fifty! Sheesh. We closed them down and are headed back to Las Vegas today. I am looking forward to being in a city again and having a dishwasher.
Last night, when I was coming down our road, I saw a barred owl.
They are amazingly agile. This one was flying through the trees. The colors are starting to turn big time up here. This is a few days ago at Oberg Mountain.
My wife spotted a couple of trumpeter swans on our lake. Ducks are regularly migrating through and have been for the last month. My photo isn’t so hot. Hers is a lot better. They feed on the wild rice. My neighbor had a medium-sized bear swim through the wild rice a couple of weeks ago and get up on his dock. This year, I didn’t see any of the Big 3 (Moose, Bear, Wolf).
We plan on fly fishing our way back.
Your wife's picture of the swans on the lake and the fog is beautiful.
Are those Northern Lights in the last one? I just returned from Norwegian cruise - went above the Arctic Circle up to Barentz, and didn't see them - and here you are, right in the States, with the clear picture!
Jeff, I didn't know you were a flyfisherman! I know it's out of your way, but along with Silver Cr. in Ketchum, ID, don't miss the Owyhee in eastern Oregon - ( Cory Godell is the man to see https://www.deschutesriveranglers.com/guides) & of course Catch Magazine https://catchmagazine.net - have a safe drive! The Owl pic is super!
