Vivek severely criticized RNC Chairwoman Ronny McDaniel at the debate on Wednesday evening in Miami. The mainstream press eats it up and their reporting after the Tuesday night election returns were in was that Republicans played the Washington Generals to the Democratic Harlem Globetrotters.
It’s an easy hook to latch onto. When you are voting for, pulling for, one party you want them to win every single election. Your confirmation bias gets in the way. “I don’t even understand how the other side can’t see what I see.”, you say to yourself.
Well, there is another side.
When it comes to Republicans and losing I think we are all stung by 2022. We expected a huge red wave and we didn’t receive it. People are attracted psychologically to negative thoughts, not positive ones. That’s why you can toss a bomb on Twitter and get a lot of attention.
Here is the actual record of Republican results in the past 10 years.
2014 - Republicans won both House and Senate
2016- Republicans held both houses of Congress and Trump astonished the world and beat Hillary for President.
In 2016, the Republicans held all the levers of power. I think this is where the party faithful get mad. What did they do with that power?
2018 - Republicans lose the House for two reasons. Statistically, midterms are always tough for incumbent Presidents. The other reason is because Speaker of the House Paul Ryan had a temper tantrum and brought a large percentage of the Republican majority with him. Senator John McCain did everything he could to get in the way of the Trump agenda, including casting a deciding vote to keep Obamacare. McCain was a war hero, but should not be held up as a beacon of great political judgment and prudence. Meanwhile, the Democrats along with a complicit media spun an entire fictional novel about Russia and Trump.
2020 - Trump lost by a hair in the Covid era. It was roughly 10,000 votes or so in a few states. The world colluded to wreck Trump, and Republicans like Paul Ryan were on board. The Hunter Biden laptop and the entire Biden Family Money Operation with Foreign Governments’ business were suppressed. Remember, Democrats also had huge ballot harvesting operations and with mail-in balloting, they were able to dump a lot of votes into the ballot box that wouldn’t normally be there. As an example, last night at a function I was at they found a halfway house in Nevada that had over 200 people registered at it. The collusion included corporations like Pfizer. Pfizer deliberately held back info on the vaccine. Of course, we now know the vaccine didn’t work but if it had been released ahead of the election, it would have shined sunbeams on Trump.
2022 - This was the Red Wave election that got short-circuited. The Supreme Court puts Republicans in a tough spot on abortion. Republicans are not unified as a party on abortion. You get a lot more diversity of opinion and thought in the Republican Party. In the Democratic Party, you do not get any diversity of opinion or nuance. Republicans did not do a good job communicating and an issue that ceased to be a federal issue and was properly returned to the states bludgeoned them. However, the Republicans squeaked out a victory and took the House of Representatives.
That’s the national level. Locally it is a different story. Different means a lot more positive.
During this same period as above, Republicans have maintained control of more than half the state legislatures, more than half the gubernatorial seats, and more than half the state Attorney Generals. Florida and Texas are where people are moving and they are deep red states. California, Illinois, and New York are deep blue states and their people are leaving as quickly as they can.
Republicans have work to do in Secretary of State offices, where the votes get counted and administered.
Lately, Republicans are starting to run, and win, at local school boards.
All of this happened while being outspent in every single race. Democrats are the party of big money, not Republicans. Wall Street and the billionaire/millionaire class are donating to Democrats and Democratic PACs. Dark foreign money doesn’t go into the Republican Party.
This success nationally and locally also happened with a 100% biased mainstream media that is an agent of the Chinese government along with a public K-12 school system and universities that our indoctrinating, not educating our children.
Republicans have some big issues to distance themselves from Democrats in the next election. They are:
School choice
Ending CRT/DEI in schools
Strong border that stops illegal immigration
Sending illegals back
Becoming tough on crime and thwarting George Soros state’s attorneys
Embracing the decentralized free enterprise system and not a centralized government system.
Cutting the deficit and growth of the government budget
Rational abortion policy where you can’t kill babies up until birth
Israel policy and fighting anti-semitism. Democrats enable persecution of Jews in the US, and worldwide.
Tax/Trade/Regulation policy. Make it easy to build factories in America again and install a Fair Tax which means corporations and businesses can make rational decisions without having to step over the government tax net.
Having honest voter records. Republicans want every legally eligible voter to vote one time, and get their vote counted accurately and reported accurately.
There are some bright lines to define this election.
I think as Republicans, we want it all and we want it now. Hence, when we lose some close elections, especially as we lost them in 2020 and 2022, we get frustrated. But, if you look at the record, how do you view wins and losses?
This is a realistic and mildly cheering assessment, Jeff. Thank you.
Nonetheless, McDaniel does need to go. She is not simpatico with her own base and is not getting the job done. Lots of other people are available to do better, or try to.
Good list of policy planks, too. There is low hanging fruit to be gathered.
Thanks for your optimism Jeffrey. I needed it. In our little paradise in Bucks County, Pa., we lost every school board race. I knocked on a ton of doors, spoke to a ton of people promoting our common sense, get-back-to-education candidates, and worked our polling place from sun-up till we counted the ballots. But the leftists - they're Marxists really - outraised us and outsmarted us by outright lying in their Youtube ads and mailers, calling themselves compassionate - what a crock. They call us book banners because we don't want explicit, pornographic books in middle-school libraries and when we call them on it, showing just how explicit books like "This Book is Gay" are, we get yelled at for showing explicit images, particularly in the local "press." You can't make that up. We're facing a ton of work. Losing sucks. Big Time.
