These are the chads I would have rolled my eyes at in college for yelling at my friends and I to show them our boobs while we ran by their houses and now they’re … our last line of sanity.
There is a commonality among the consistently changing “current thing”. The one common element is at the core of the movement, freedom is severely curtailed or eliminated.
The United States exists to provide freedom and liberty for individuals from the government. Not because of the government. Not administered by the government. The country didn’t start because of the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act was simply a catalyst.
By the way, any directed tax is a tax on freedom and liberty.
Many liberals I know are trying to find a path to walk. Their psyche and stomach cannot take it if they vote for a Republican. Yet, they know only the Republicans will stand in the way of the Marxists who will destroy them. The Democrats truly have descended into Marxism these days. This is not hyperbole. It’s real and it is here. They know full well that any words said are hollow and followed by actions that are detrimental to them.
Biden gave a speech the other day on Israel. Predictably, it was a false equivalence. His actions haven’t supported Israel. They have supported the terrorists. Humanitarian aid doesn’t help anyone, except the terrorists fighting Israel. He proposed a false equivalence between Palestinians and Israelis whom Hamas terrorized on October 7, 2023. The Palestinian people voted for Hamas to run their fiefdom. They aren’t any different than the Germans who voted for Hitler.
A vote for Biden is support for terrorists. Biden not only isn’t punishing Hamas, he is enabling the Iranians who support terrorists all over the world. His party supports the campus protestors and, funds them. Are Republicans perfect? No way. Far from it. But, better than the alternative. You must participate. Hiding your head in the sand is exactly what the terrorists want. For an example, see voter turnout in Chicago. They have a Marxist for mayor.
Let me try to help my liberal friends. Though it is very hard to understand, when someone says they want to kill you and they protest publicly, they really do want to kill you. We don’t think that way but they do.
This is also not 1968. In 1968, you could get drafted to go to a war you might not want to fight in. By the way, the Weather Underground who were behind a lot of the protests back then, are no different idealistically when it comes to the global warming crowd.
Israel is far different than Ukraine/Russia. Israel ought to be able to go and crush the terrorists that want it eliminated. The terrorists aren’t interested in cohabitation. From the river to the sea means total elimination. They don’t want Israel, or Jews to exist.
As a non-Jew, it is important that we speak up and publicly denounce Hamas, and terrorists. If there was going to be a “two-state” solution, it would have already been implemented. It’s not realistic and it appeals to the hard-wired human idea of optionality. If we don’t have to make a decision or take a stand, we won’t.
The protests on college campuses are indeed violent protests. They aren’t peaceful. You cannot camp on the public square. It is a form of violence. Laying down in front of traffic is a form of violence. Stopping people from entering buildings, and restaurants, disrupting them at restaurants, standing on a public street, and protesting in front of their private residences are all forms of violent, not peaceful, protest.
There is a right to peaceable assembly in the Bill of Rights and the protestors that act out in the ways I described above are violating the word “peaceable”. They are anything but. Interestingly despite the amplification by left-wing media, 80% of people polled in the US side with Israel and against the protestors. They know something is wrong even if they can’t articulate it.
The protestors want chaos and violence. That’s how Marxists take power because they promise to bring order to lawlessness. Meanwhile, they take away every thing that is yours.
I think they miscalculated. The BLM riots, and they were violent riots, had sympathy with many liberals. These riots don’t. It is easy to poke fun and satire the campus riots because they are so transparent and unserious in many ways.
“The revolution will be catered.”
The real undercurrent of the protests is the other side wants to take away your freedom. They aren’t interested in the capitalistic ideals that the country was founded on.
This is the same undercurrent that exists in the global warming crowd.
It’s the same undercurrent that exists in the abortion-on-demand crowd.
It’s the same undercurrent that exists in the healthcare free-for-all all crowd.
It’s the same undercurrent that exists in the tax the rich crowd.
It’s the same undercurrent that exists in the high-speed rail crowd.
It’s the same undercurrent that exists in the DEI crowd.
It’s the same undercurrent that exists in the “equity” or “equality” crowd.
It’s the same undercurrent that exists in we need a government program to solve a problem crowd.
It’s the same undercurrent that exists in the anti-gun crowd.
They are full of envy. They penalize success and ingenuity. They are for the collective over the individual. They want no consequences to actions, nor do they understand why failure when taking risks is important. They like to rule from their ivory towers knowing full well anything that happens won’t affect them directly.
They hate freedom and capitalism. The US is the beacon of it and by every shred of evidence, it works pretty damn well. We have over 200 years of history that shows it works significantly better than any other place on earth or any form of government that has been tried since mankind walked the earth.
This photo has been going around social media lately. It shows the development of high-speed rail in China vs the US. As if high-speed rail is some proxy for success. Planes fly at almost 600mph, and they can navigate using the curvature of the earth to get you places in a speedy time. I don’t know why planes are a symbol of societal death. Time is money.
High-speed rail isn’t a sign of societal success but there is a reason that China has a highly developed high-speed rail system and the US doesn’t. Property rights. If you don’t understand why, I suggest you figure it out and what they truly mean.
Addendum:
I was lucky enough to read Abbie Hoffman's 'Steal the Book' as part of Modern American History at U of I, which led me to Saul Alinsky's 'Rule for Radicals'. That was 40 years ago, and the books were 10 years old then. They lay out pretty much the exact script that the Left does for every issue.
I have been amazed at the lack of creativity of the Leftists over time. They do the same thing over and over again. Wilmette recently decided to fly a Trans promotion flag as part of the Village flag display and declared everyone who objected to promoting chopping off our kids body parts to be haters and bigots. Then claimed that they were supporting a marginalized community by making an official Village policy of imposing their (bizarre) political views on everyone else.
They do the same thing every time
1) Make really ridiculous demands
2) Declare everyone who objects to their demand racists etc
3) Make their ridiculous demands official policy, or else the rule makers are racist/homophobes/bigots etc
Look at how Northwestern just followed the script with the freak protesters at Deering. NU gave in, paying a ransom to the freaks, and they still didn't leave the Deering Meadow.
And the general public falls for it again, and again and again, though it is nice to see some pushback against the College Marxists promoting terrorists.
It’s the same undercurrent that exists in the dedicated bike lane crowd, too.
If pedaling a bike on a busy city street is your thing, then move to Beijing. And yes Jeff, anyone who votes Democrat is a Marxist. End of story.
