Ceding To Communists To Preserve Power
Democrats Do This; So Do Other Parties All Over The World
Did you see the results of the elections in both the UK and France? There are lessons for the US.
In the UK, the Labour Party won. The Conservatives have dominated UK elections for generations. When they lose, it’s generally because their leadership is inept, and loses touch with citizens.
In this case, it was Brexit. Brexit split the Conservatives similarly to the way Republicans split over Establishment/Trump lines. They couldn’t govern.
The British press is as left-wing as the American press so reporting was very biased. I read the Financial Times a lot and you cannot believe the unlogical drivel printed there.
France is a different story. Marie Le Pen has worked for years to build a party in France. In America, she’d be considered a Trump-like conservative. She is not a Reagan conservative. But, she is capitalistic. She wants an end to uncontrolled immigration. She wants an end to big government.
Hence, the mainstream press calls her “fascist”.
The entire country voted for Le Pen.
This should remind a lot of Americans about their states. NY State goes as NYC goes. Illinois goes as Chicago goes. Minnesota goes as Minneapolis goes.
The urban areas of the world are not in sync with the other parts of the world. The urban areas favor communism. It’s where the idea took hold in the late 1800s and was implemented in the early 1900s, and the same is true today. Chicago’s Democratic Machine has been put out to pasture in favor of a new Democratic Machine led by the Marxist Chicago Teacher’s Union. It’s only a question of time before they take over Springfield. Bureaucrats aren’t their enemies. We see similar in cities like SF, LA, Seattle, Portland, NYC, Boston, Detroit, and other US urban areas.
The other interesting piece about the French election was President Macron’s actions. First, he called for an election to stave off Le Pen's rise. Her ideas resonated with most of the country as you can see. Second, when it looked like Le Pen would take control, Macron asked his people running to be members of the Parliament to step down. Given the choice between a traditional left-wing politician, think Democrat in US terms, and a communist, the person with a left bias voted for the communist.
That’s been happening in places like Chicago for a long time now. We see it with the rise of Bernie Sanders and his acolytes in the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party in America is probably 30-40% communist. They favor centralized control, government programs, high taxes, and bureaucracy.
My friend Laura Hollis and I had the same thought. How does France not devolve into a Civil War? Do you remember the actions of French farmers last fall?
Spraying manure on a government building isn’t a sign of respect or acceptance.
America should pay close attention. We have similar undercurrents here. Our centralized bureaucracy is huge. Our debts are huge. There is a chasm and disconnect between people who understand how America is supposed to work and those who want to “fundamentally change” how it works.
Capitalism works. I like this hopeful column by Andy Kessler. Communism and big government do not.
I prefer what Mileil is doing in Argentina. We need that in the US on a bigger scale. My hope is that Trump is an experiential learner, and in a second term won’t make the same mistakes he made in the first. My hope also is that if he gets majorities in both Houses of Congress, the leadership of those houses won’t work against him as McConnell and Paul Ryan did.
The “rational leftists” I know who would call me a “rational conservative” don’t understand what’s happening yet. Not only are the communists taking over their party, but the radical Islamicists are too. They are a potent force against capitalism, freedom of speech, and religion.
If you are Jewish and you live in France, you probably should be making plans to leave. The Greens, the radical Islamists, and the communists aren’t your friends and frankly, Macron's followers won’t be there to back you when you need it if it means losing power.
In America, people continue to flee states that implement ideas of big government and socialism. They go to free states which have small governments and low taxes.
The leader of the Green Party in France, Marine Tondelier, said the left shouldn’t wrestle over power. The Greens and the Commies have roughly the same goals so it will be easy for them to figure it out.
Even Macron allies are saying they will find a path forward with the Greens and Commies. Just like the Democrats in the US, they aren’t interested in citizens, but their own power over citizens.
What are some of their platform planks?
Retirement to be lowered from 62 to 60
The minimum wage (known as Smic) to go up by about 15% to €1,500 a month
The return of wealth taxes on people and companies
A freeze on the prices of basic essentials
The creation of a million jobs.
Sounds just like the Democrats in the United States. Where are those jobs going to come from if they crush private wealth and private businesses? We know the answer. The same place it’s coming from in the United States right now, government.
US unemployment numbers show consistent job growth in the government sector month over month, not the private sector.
Who is the leader of the communists in France? Jean-Luc Melenchon. Here is a little about him.
Jean-Luc Melenchon, the left-winger who has spearheaded the New Popular Front to an unexpected election success this weekend, is a close pal of Jeremy Corbyn who is frequently compared to the ex-Labour Party leader.
Mr Corbyn himself wasted little time in singing the praises of the loose coalition - while taking a thinly veiled swipe at recently elected UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.
As well Mr Corbyn, who was on Thursday elected as an independent MP for Islington North, 72-year-old Mr Melenchon is a fan of former Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez and Cuba’s Fidel Castro.
An accomplished and confident public speaker who refuses to use a teleprompter or notes, he frequently rails against the evils of “extreme markets that transform suffering, misery and abandonment into gold and money”.
He has in the past described France as a country “with huge wealth that is badly distributed”.
He split with the Socialist Party in 2008, describing it as too business-friendly. Eight years later, he founded France Unbowed and in 2022 he ran for president – for the third time.
He has vowed to increase public spending by a whopping £125 billion (€150 billion) should he be successful in forming an administration.
Sounds just like Joe Biden or any other US Democratic leader doesn’t he?
Predictably,
Paris was the scene of fierce clashes between left-wing demonstrators and riot police last night, with clips showing flares being hurled and officers wading in with batons.
If Trump is elected, we can expect the left to take it violently in the US as well.
The elections in England and France ought to give Trump supporters pause. Trump might be ahead right now, but it doesn’t mean it’s a lock. Not only is there a possibility of election fraud, but more importantly the Establishment politicians in both parties will do all they can to deny Trump a victory. They’d rather bend the knee to the communists, as long as they preserve a few crumbs for themselves and their patronage constituents.
Jeffrey,
Well said and on-point.
I was a bit confused about the position of Le-Pen as a capitalist, but that France is falling to communists.
The US needs to wake up and look at things like the jobs report and what it tells us. It seems that for the last several year, the jobs report stays somewhat decent, while economically we are challenged. When you look at the detail though, it points to the Government Sector as the second highest new job creator every month. And when you add the NGO hiring sprees that receive money from the government to operate and feed friends of the government administrators, it points to a HUGE leak of capital (Re-distribution of wealth).
Good work.
Great post Mr Carter! There is a backlash coming from we "normies" (deplorables) and the left will not go quietly. Remember the lessons from the St George Floyd "mostly peaceful" riots from a few summers ago! Lots of damage, loss of innocent lives, and rampant destruction with absolutely NO Consequences! This kind of BS must never be tolerated again! I think PDT has learned his lessons from his first term. He's fighting a two sided front against Dem/Marxists and go along get along RINO's. I'm cautiously optimistic but certainly not cocky! Pray for the country!
