Being Against Illegal Immigration Isn't Racist
It's Sensible Because of the Economic Incentives
“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself.”-Cicero
The Democrats and Joe Biden have abandoned any semblance of a “border” around America. The RINOs in Congress are scared of actually enforcing a border, and don’t want to undertake the effort it will take to deport each and every one of the illegal aliens because they fear it will make them look heartless and cruel. Small government law and order Republicans want to enforce a strong border, and in the process appear anti-all immigration.
It’s not that we aren’t compassionate or empathetic. We are. However, we also understand what is really going on under the table and we are sick of it.
My friend
wrote about immigration and I suggest you read it. This stood out to me.If it were just a fight between the President and one governor – as, say, when President Kennedy supported the integration of the University of Mississippi – it might be kind of one sided. As my old Constitutional Law Professor Burke Marshall said about the Mississippi standoff, “Of course, the president's gonna win in the end. He's got the whole Armed Forces of the United States. He can call in the Air Force; he can bring Navy ships up the Mississippi River; he can call out the Army as he did; he can drop parachuters in. I suppose he could shoot missiles at Oxford, Mississippi, so he's gonna win at the end. But the political matter is, is, is politics in, in a deep sense of political leadership so that the change that is gonna come about, is a change that is recognized and accepted and is not looked upon as having been imposed by force.”
But desegregation in 1962 was very different from the present situation where the President is supporting immigration that in fact violates existing United States laws by refusing to enforce those laws. Kennedy, on the other hand, was enforcing a court order to desegregate. And, of course, while open borders are popular with elites, they’re quite unpopular with the general public. Add to that that Abbott has open support not only from members of Congress but from something like 25 other governors and it’s not much like Mississippi in 1962 at all.
Instead what you get looks disturbingly like the early stages of a civil war, and in fact a Rasmussen poll from last week found that Americans think just that:
It makes me wonder why hard left-wing Democratic Senator Dick Durbin would be encouraging a policy for illegals to join the military. If they have no loyalty to our country, how hard would it be for a person like-minded to Durbin to weaponize that illegal alien-filled military against indigenous American citizens? I am telling you it’s not a stretch given the great lengths Democrats in power have gone to enable illegal immigration.
There can be no Reaganesque compromise that allowed illegals to become citizens. That mistake by Reagan also created perverse economic incentives that caused more illegals to come in. If you know you will get citizenship, why go through the legal process? Nope, they all have to go back outside our borders. Every single one of them.
Constitutionally, birthright citizenship now creates a perverse economic incentive because of the extensive amount of government safety net available for people to use.
Because everything is a hot take today, it’s really hard to take a step back and think about the problem. Recently on Twitter, a few facts have come out that might change your thinking on immigration.
When the US does a census, it counts people not citizens. Hence, states that are losing people due to their overbearing laws and anti-freedom anti-civil society policies are sanctuary states so they don’t continue to lose representation (power) in Congress. Less power means less pork coming back to their states since they don’t see Congress as a governing body but more as a means of revenue production. Instead of mining their own state taxpayers for money, they get to mine the entire country’s taxpayers for money, and do it with debt.
That is a perverse economic incentive. It’s why small-government Republicans want far less government spending.
It’s also why RINOs are willing to compromise on every issue with Democrats because instead of seeing Congress as a governing body, they also see it as a pork barrel money machine that greases the wheels of their own patronage back home.
Hence, there is a difference between the Democrats and the RINOs, but it’s only in who and what they allocate money to.
But, what about the blue-collar white people? Aren’t they racist to not want immigration? They just don’t want a bunch of brown people in their country and they want those people to speak English.
Again, a total misconception. I know plenty of legal immigrants who are against the illegal invasion.
If you are a blue-collar white person the current tableau of opportunity that you are confronted with in America is segregated. You get frozen out of certain jobs because of “diversity”. Your kids might not get into the college of their choice because of diversity. Your family is not given a spot on the Opportunity Train but a wealthy family of color is.
Not only that, but the mainstream media culture talks down to you, doesn’t respect you, satires you, and constantly shows you in situations where you look dumb. It’s not a lot different than Amos and Andy back in the day. If you don’t know Amos and Andy, this is what the NAACP released: the NAACP mounted a formal protest almost as soon as the television version began, describing the show as "a gross libel of the Negro and distortion of the truth".[35] In 1951 it released a bulletin on "Why the Amos 'n' Andy TV Show Should Be Taken Off the Air." It stated that the show "tends to strengthen the conclusion among uninformed and prejudiced people that Negroes are inferior, lazy, dumb, and dishonest, ... Every character" is "either a clown or a crook"; "Negro doctors are shown as quacks and thieves"; "Negro lawyers are shown as slippery cowards"; "Negro women are shown as cackling, screaming shrews"; "All Negroes are shown as dodging work of any kind"; and "Millions of white Americans see this Amos 'n' Andy picture of Negroes and think the entire race is the same."
You sort of can’t blame people for rebelling against illegal immigration when they know those people are going to be given a special spot ahead of them, and they are told that “you suck” all the time by the mainstream culture.
But, wait, there is more.
The money train from Washington to the States is starting to tap out. We are at all-time levels of debt to GDP. The taxpayer is stretched. Literally, every time you turn around and spend a penny you get taxed. The goods and services you purchase every day have hidden taxes that are embedded into them, it’s not just sales tax.
Not only that, when taxes go up people get less. Government isn’t “working for them” it is working for the bureaucrats and elected officials.
Illegal aliens consume a lot of tax dollars. They flood our public school system. They consume hospital services. It costs money to patrol the border, catch them, send them back, and find them if they get through. They compete for resources with poor US citizens who need them. They are a huge drain on the economy.
Today, those citizens who have always voted Democrat are starting to wake up to the costs of illegal immigration. The illegal immigrants aren’t being settled in the suburbs where “Hate Has No Home Here” signs litter front yards. Even in the cities, illegal aliens aren’t being settled in the Limousine Liberal Champagne Socialist enclaves. No, they are front and center in some of the more struggling neighborhoods.
Did you know in many states, they can get a license, a bank loan, a bank account, mortgages, insurance, free health care, and in-state college tuition? In addition, they don’t have to pay taxes.
It’s not about “the US Chamber of Commerce wants cheap labor”. It’s about fighting for limited resources in the pork barrel bills that get passed in Washington DC and statehouses. It’s about fighting for limited resources and opportunities on the ground in substandard neighborhoods across the country.
What do you tell the middle class to poor US citizen who sends their kid to a public school and the illegal immigrant child gets to cut the line ahead of them? Join the Army and fight some of the endless wars the political class has in store for you?
Turn your head and you see the entire bureaucracy of the US government, the entire justice system of the US government baring its teeth and out to get you. Not only that, it’s enabling criminals and illegals. You see two totally different standards of conduct in almost everything, one for the elites, and one for you. Nancy Pelosi gets to insider trade, you go to prison. Hillary gets to say she doesn’t recall and nothing happens. Hunter stays out of jail while grifting art, grifting foreign money, and gets a protection racket organized by his father’s operatives. They are entitled to be innocent until proven guilty but it works the other way for you.
The system right now isn’t working for you despite what you do. You follow the rules. You work hard. You do the right things. They screw you, and now they demean you in the mainstream culture and laugh about it.
When the masses came over mostly from Europe to settle in the United States they came with nothing but hope. You might say the illegals coming today have that same hope, and they might. But, the economic incentives are far different today than it was then. It is much easier to come to the US now by a lot.
However, when your ancestors came over, they didn’t get to cut the line. They didn’t have an enormous welfare state set up for them that they could take advantage of and were ready to take advantage of them.
They scratched out their own destinies. They were self-determined. They assimilated into the culture and became a part of it. There are millions of stories. Millions. “My great-great-grandfather was a doctor in the old country but was a janitor here. My great-great-grandmother worked in a sweatshop.” You hear them all the time and they are passed down in family lore.
We all have those stories in our family history. Each of us knows that somewhere, somehow, our family had to face a struggle. No one had it easy, even if you were lily white with the pinkest skin known to mankind.
The Welfare state our bettors in Washington DC created embeds perverse economic incentives for people NOT to assimilate.
Well said Mr Carter! I particularly loved the X link to my favorite Argentinian! Stay the course!
Illegal immigration is not materially different from a foreign invasion. What if 10 million Americans just up and moved to Mexico or China? Do you think their governments would just take it? The US Federal Government, at least the executive branch, in cahoots with globalists at the UN, has declared war on the US Constitution and the non-government employees of this nation. This reality cannot go on much longer unconfronted.
