Freespoke (which uses Microsoft search technology) censors some websites that google doesn't censor. So I don't buy it that freespoke is better. For example, do a google search for the following:
Google returns a link to "How the U.S. provoked Russia in Ukraine: A Compendium." But if you do the same search on freespoke you get nothing. Likewise, bing returns just "Some results have been removed" with a link to an explanation that it censors some results they don't like. So, I am skeptical about freespoke. Has anyone analyzed their coverage and censorship?
Freespoke is committed to not censoring content or viewpoints. We are still working to improve search results above and beyond the Big Tech offerings.
Freespoke uses a combination of proprietary first-party search results (i.e. our own search engine) plus results from other sources such as Bing for cases where we are still building stronger capabilities. Our current efforts are focused around improved understanding of queries (which will allow us to better choose when to show our results ahead of those from third parties), and promoting publishers or narrowing search results to specific publishers in response to the user request for a specific publisher. We agree with your assessment that Bing results are far from ideal, and we believe that these improvements which will launch soon will help us address this far better in Freespoke.com.
Thanks! I've been using Brave, and checking out Luxxle. This sounds better. I hate twitter but like to read the comments from Margot Cleveland and a few others. A couple days ago I stumbled on an open source alternative that let's you read twitter without signing up for anything. Nitter. So far so good.
If it walks like a duck, it is a duck. If Fred's money went into DDG, well, you know the underlying values. It's a twitter in training. Thanks for the head's up.
FreeSpoke is just another conservative propaganda outlet. The lies & the vile rhetoric doesn't bode well for all Americans. Be better by promoting reality.
I'll certainly start comparing results with DDG. It will make it easier to use if Brave and other browsers would allow for it to be set as the default browser, which does not seem to be an option at this point.
Give it a try, but more importantly tell your friends. Share it on social media too

I doubt if it's censorship. Probably just the way the algo is written or the way the search term is written. You'd have to ask Freespoke

I googled ship sticks a few weeks back and have gotten 5 or 6 notices every day for golf accessories and trips etc. Crazy

They just couldn't help themselves.
Who is behind Freespoke? Who created it? Is this another Trump backed claim to be free from censorship and it censors negative things about Trump....

Ha, Freespoke gives you three choices for reading the same content. How is that vile?

this is true. I don't know how to code your own search engine inside a browser
Here are the links for making Freespoke your default search engine in these browsers:

For Brave, click here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/freespoke-search/oacbeelegehoakfnoaecnlifbhcohljl
