Do Illegal Aliens Pay Taxes?

The border is over run. In a deliberate attempt to stink things up, Democrats have opened the border.

Sanctuary Cities are overwhelmed. Good. I am glad Texas is shipping the illegals to cities that virtue signaled. Now, they don’t want them because they have to bear the cost to house and feed them.

Over the course of the last generations, plenty of illegals have come across the border and used the US public system to get things they needed. They fill up public schools. They fill up public housing. They have found a way to jump into the stream of US government transfer payments so they can find some money.

I don’t dispute their desire to work. Most want to. I just wish they’d come into the country legally. I also wish that the US get its immigration system so people could come into the country without waiting an interminable amount of time. I have said it before, Gary Becker’s idea of deriving a price for immigration based on supply and demand would work elegantly.

In the meantime, governments are spending billions to take care of the illegals and the illegals aren’t really paying into the system. We can fix that. How?

Fair Tax.

Illegals buy stuff. Every time they spent money, they’d be paying taxes under the Fair Tax regime. So would you. With the Fair Tax, we would add 100 million taxpayers to the taxpaying rolls. But, you know what taxes you wouldn’t pay?

• Capital Gains taxes

• Federal Govt gasoline taxes

• Self-employment taxes

• Medicare taxes

• any other tax the federal government assesses

Your effective tax rate would decrease by 65%. You’d never file a tax return again. The billionaires that Bernie Sanders loves to rail against would not be able to avoid the tax and they’d pay it. No more using expensive attorneys to set up complex trusts to avoid taxes. Illinois Governor JB Pritzker could repatriate his money to the US from the Bahamas where he shelters it now.
