When Trump won, I remember engaging with a fellow who was adamant that borders should be taken down and 'everyone let in', (in-between his rantings about the end of the world coming via Trump). And he firmly believed that this would benefit the US with an increase in everything!
Just like every kid gets a first place ribbon. These days, you even get a pass for pulling the fire alarm to open a door.
Come to America and get your free money each month. And you work under the table and wire your earnings back home tax free.
I am certain, that the bureaucratic need to justify their desk prevents this and every idea that actually works - without government. What would those leaches be left to do? The horrors. I can hear the shrieks of the government workers outrage: We’re but mere humble civil servants and you’re eliminating our entire division!
We first read a book about the Fair Tax almost 25 years ago and I’m on board. It’s about as likely to happen as my other proposed reforms: raise voting age to 25, reform health insurance, defund all public education
Majority of illegals come here to find work and are good, honest, hard working people. I completely agree with you regarding using a sales tax and doing away with the income tax completely. Of course it would become a street brawl between all of the accountants, the IRS and the lobbyists in DC and rest of us. Processing should be a lot more effecient then it currently is. I do think we have to keep in mind that what has been happening since the late 60's is latin America has been exporting potential rebels/revolutionaries to the U.S. by proactively encouraging the "immigration" of people who have little opportunities in the countries they were born in part becuase of a heavy leftward shift politically starting back in the 1940's but also in many countries the rank bigotry towards certain ethnic groups of people in these countries. We are the release valve keeping Latin America corrupt now going on 65 years.
I've been a FairTax fan since Neil Boortz started talking about it years ago (have his book, too.) And this is, I believe, commented on at length, possibly a whole chapter.
It will never get passed unless we have a very large and very honest majority in both houses. And even some red states might balk at it, possibly enough that the 2/3rds necessary for an amendment to repeal the 16th Amendment, which with every iteration that's been put up in the House and Senate is a requirement for it to become effective. At least, that clause had BETTER stay in there!

No loop holes to “give” - however would congressmen get rich?
