Very informative. It is always interesting(and scary) to see what organized forces do when they have the governments 'ear'. Monopolies do not work well for a country.
You hit the nail right on the head on the casino, or the casino corporation, which is the first to buy a predictive startup may end up with the biggest market share in Vegas all of them. It is a potentially huge market if marketed wisely.
Or, if they have the resources and know-how, start it themselves. The one thing a company like Kalshi has going for it is that it is a DCM. Casinos are not familiar with the CFTC. Purchasing that knowledge would help them go faster.
Funny thing is some of the casino corporations would do well for themselves by hiring some former traders who served on multiple committees and dealt with DC.
You mentioned Fred. His blog was fun back in the day before he had a liberal melt and blocked comments. I see that you can comment there now. Must be a safe space, free of the menacing right wingers.
Last time I looked at his wife's blog, way back when, she was opening a pot store in NYC and she was clear that no white dudes had a chance of working there. Thought it racist at the time.
It seems now that she's: "I am disgusted, saddened, frustrated, and angry at the lack of any intelligent decisions being made at the government level".
And: "Telling people that this will be the ticket to generational wealth. The entire thing is bullshit, every single one of those people will end up having to close these businesses with massive debt, and/or having drained their bank accounts and the friends who put money in. It is utterly disgusting."
She voted for it, so cry me a river. Generational wealth from a pot store? Give me a break. If you are stupid enough to bet the farm in such a socialist environment that eats the small guy(girl, trans, whatever) for lunch, give me a second break. What planet is she living on? Oh, yeah, she's filthy rich and doing one shitty job at playing the victim.
Clarke's Three Stages of Innovation:
1. It will never work.
2. It will never be cost-effective.
3. I said it was a good idea all along.
(Hat tip: Arthur C. Clarke, science-fiction author and renowned futurist)
The most efficient process tends to win.
