There is dignity in work. Something I think we've forgotten in the last two+ years.

I’m split on whether liberals can actually come to terms with how much their policies create misery and entrap people in poverty, or whether they are truly evil and would pick political power over the lives of common people. But you are right, we need to have a discussion; we need to talk it out and if we could do that in a civil and sane manner, the lives of many would improve in a short time. Sadly, it won’t happen and it isn’t conservative intransigence that is stopping this discussion.

Excellent Jeff thank you.

The elephant in the room is that nobody on either side of the political spectrum wants to admit that the truth is the 1960s concept of lifting people out of poverty with the assistance of welfare was intended to be transitional both geographically and personally, and we have lost sight of that. It was key that you referred to the word hope because you don't really give much hope when you just give things to people; you give a great deal of Hope to people when you help them to help themselves and they feel that they have skin in the game and they have made a meaningful contribution to their own betterment through their own efforts. To assist them is a successful strategy and borders on spiritually divine, but to just give to them is counterproductive, economically, personally and professionally.

We will need to do a radical overhaul of our education and Public assistance programs to see dramatic results and some of the suggestions you made are outstanding.

This coming from a North suburban Jewish kid who was the beneficiary of an outstanding public school system and very closely connected to the Democratic machine growing up despite a dad who introduced me to Runsfeld and Percy LOL

Just maybe the 10 commandments nail the human heart.

Either that, or the fact that "don't be too generous", "don't be overly honest", "don't love your neighbor too much" or "don't give away too much of your money" etc... just so happened to be left out by mistake.

Your points all spot on.
