Inflation Eases
Eggs Down 25%
The Democrats trolling Trump on social media last week about the price of eggs. My friend Mike Zaccardi said yesterday that the price of eggs is now down 25%, after rising 65% under Biden. Gasoline is also at its lowest price since 2020.
If you think a President controls the price of eggs in the economy, you might not want to be opining on the economy. The President does set and ask for broad policies which can affect the economy, but they don’t control the stock market or the price of groceries.
The price of eggs was heavily influenced by bird flu. Slaying a lot of egg-laying hens creates a scarcity of eggs, and prices go up. The other great thing about chickens is that, out of chickens, pigs, and cows, chicken stocks can recover the fastest and start producing protein again. It takes a couple of years for cows. The miracle of life takes more time with larger and more complex animals.
Today, The latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased 2.8% over the prior year in February, below January's 3% annual gain and ahead of economist expectations of a 2.9% annual increase.
Hence, prices of everything are starting to decrease.
Predictably, the left-wing financial press says we are headed for recession. They will do anything to write a negative article about Trump. I remember during Biden’s term when we were in a recession and the press did everything they could to redefine what a recession was so we weren’t in one. Wait, I thought tariffs were inflationary. Hint: Tariffs can be, but they take a while to be felt.
The press and the lefties must be willingly ignorant, or starstruck at what is going on in America today.
Amazingly, when you signal to the market that the government is willing to allow energy companies to explore and produce energy, the futures price declines, affecting prices today! Cabinet Secretary Doug Burgum was in Louisiana approving the building of a new natural gas export facility.
Amazingly, when you say you are going to close the border and you start deporting illegal aliens, illegal border crossings go away.
Amazingly, when you say you want peace between two warring nations, they wake up and smell the coffee and think about how that peace might happen.
I would like to see the cabinet secretaries start to deregulate aggressively. Aggressive deregulation will do more to encourage investment in things like manufacturing than tariffs will. Getting taxes right also will create certainty for businesses to invest.
Despite the onslaught of astroturfed negative news in the media, I am seeing animal spirits. Startup companies I am invested in are either getting bought or getting feelers from larger companies.
I received a letter from the SEC yesterday that they are dropping their investigation of me regarding LGB coin. Welcome news since it was a politically motivated investigation and unnecessary since I had nothing to do with it and in a blog post said it was a worthless meme coin many times.
I am happy government agencies are firing people. Seeing 50% of the Department of Education get walking papers yesterday was a nice start to cancelling the entire thing. There are plenty of teaching jobs out there for those DoE people to take if they are interested in improving American education.
Trump was stupid to take on Thomas Massie. He needs to cut budgets, not expand them. Hopefully he figures a graceful way out of that one because it is high time the Libertarians integrate themselves into the Republican Party like the Communists did to the Democrats.
Give the tariffs time. Yes, I agree they are dumb. But, if Europe is going to tariff our exported cars at 10% why shouldn’t we tariff theirs at 10% while at the same time trying to get them to 0%. Canada has a bit of an election going on. Both candidates have to talk tough. Mexico has a communist for a President. Maybe she will wake up when she sees people walking south in her country.

Re: Doug Burgum whom you mentioned above. I interviewed hime for the Epoch Times during the presidential derby. Like many I had barely heard of him. Turns out he's a standup guy with a solid business background outside politics. He's worthy of consideration for president in 2028.
99.9% of the time, bad news for Democrats means good news for Americans.
Where I live, eggs at Costco are roughly $4.50/dozen. Costco tends to be lower than the national average, and I don't know what my local grocers are charging. I know they're higher to begin with, so I don't bother checking.
