Don’t forget as well that inflation is also driven by higher energy cost. To beat inflation we need: 1) cut govt spending; 2) cut taxes; 3) extract and deliver oil & gas. Every other economic issue is downstream from these, including ag (since cheap ag requires cheap energy). Since none of these things will be done in the next 3 years, the pain will be immense and widespread. Get prepared.

It is driven by higher energy costs. But, the main driver of inflation is excess government spending

True. Funny thing about them is their total lack of understanding. They are against nuclear which is cheap energy. They are for solar/wind/electric cars which takes a ton of copper and lithium-but they are against mining for lithium and copper....and they are against mining for the oil that is used to make the materials which are used in building all the infrastructure that they want......total idiocy.

Lately I’ve been thinking that the difficult economic times ahead, especially with regards to energy production, will derail the misguided push towards electric vehicles here in the US, but more so in Europe. This comes at a time when the major auto manufacturers are going all-in on EVs.

But I’ll bet that the fanatics in the Green religion will not relent. Some German greens have already said that hunger in the populace is not an excuse to move away from green energy sources.

It's amazing. I am okay with EVs as long as we all know the costs. I think they are great in cities/suburban areas where you make short trips and can plug in easy. Terrible in rural, for long interstate trips, and for over the road trucks. Unless we at a minimum triple the size of the electrical grid, all the EVs will overwhelm it.

Totally agree. EVs have their place, but so do ICE vehicles. Let the market decide.

If the hard times ahead cause EVs to be viewed in market terms, that would be a silver lining.

'Letting the market decide' is a phrase that never passes the lips of a Democrat. They are 'Market Deniers'.

Politicians need to stop pretending to be know-it-alls, and especially know-it-all "economists".

"ask a group of 100 economists a question, you'll get 100 different opinions". Do the same with politicians, you'll get even more "opinions" based on what those politicians feel will help get them re-elected. Here's a novel idea: Let the GD markets work without the damned interference . . . the general population might actually be better off.

Two things. Inflation is no way at 8.5%. Take a look at that list and know that the way the Feds cheat the numbers is the way they figure rent and the cost of housing. It is dishonest. Real inflation is more like 20%.

Second, yes the media is nothing but a propaganda organ for the Left. Still, they literally don't know ANYTHING. Most of their idiotic reporting is because of the Gell-Mann Amnesia Effect. They are college educated dunces with absolutely no experience or knowledge of the real world. Most have probably never encountered a believing Christian. Or been friends with someone who owns a business and has to make payroll every month. They assume production but know nothing about how it is achieved.
