Good article. You wrote: "Manchin might be dumb too. The coal industry is going to be hit hard by this new tax and green energy subsidies will skate by untouched."

With respect, Manchin is not dumb. He is rich and getting richer. He does not care about his state's industries because he will be gone in a few years and have untold millions, power, and be invited to all the right parties. 90% of these politicians are on the grift and graft train, Manchin included.

Turning all this around within the normal process, with the administrative swamp state in place, well, we are fooling ourselves. It is not going to happen.

GOPe is nothing more than “controlled opposition”. They are the lovable losers who just say ah shucks and shrug. We are sick and tired of this brand of republicanism which is why you’re seeing an uprising in the Republican Party towards America First priorities and that prairie fire will only grow. Trump taught the GOP how to play offense and there no going back now.

So I have despised this man for over 15 years and have long associated him with the Uni-Party the cause of the depths of our despair as Americans. He along with John Cornyn and their ilk have lied to us and betrayed us for as long as I can remember. He and his ilk are what caused me to jump on that Trump train in 2015. They are the treasonous. Your senator does not work for you. He/She either works for Mitch McConnell or Chuck Schumer. And when the edges of those two are cut off they work together to screw the American people to aggregate wealth and power for themselves. That is the truth as I believe it.

I am so on this same page and find myself where I have been since I came of voting age in the early 70's: Disgusted with the lot of them. The Democrats are flat-out crazy, based in a weird blend of Wokeism/Marxism. The GOP is like the Walking Dead. They move about. Occasionally move their lips. But the sounds coming out of each of them is always the same grunting noises. They don't actually say anything meaningful, and nothing gets done. At least nothing that will shrink the government, free the markets, secure our borders, and leave individuals to live their lives. This year, more than any in recent memory, the GOP had the House and Senate plated up for them to take over in a big way. And they're blowing it. A horrid placement of candidates in Pennsylvania and Georgia leaves the Senate (and Governorship) in doubt. That the GOP could not even get it together enough to find a candidate to beat the easily disliked John Fetterman in Pennsylvania is beyond incompetent. One almost thinks the GOP doesn't really want to win. As has been said before- the leaders of the Party seem to prefer to play in the minority- reaping all the bonuses of being a Senator, but not having to accomplish a thing, other than to make money on the side for themselves and make sure they keep getting elected.

The Turtle ain't going anywhere. He is the coach of the Senate's Washington Generals.

Manchin is simply a transactional guy. He got his 30 pieces of silver and betrayed his own state. He knows he can't expect the GOP to keep nominating idiots as his opposition. Sooner or later he will be deposed and when he does, he will be well taken care of.

Biden said that grants for Intel and other chip makers would not be “a blank check to companies.” The President said he will “personally have to sign off on the biggest grants.”

Uh-huh…and what do you think Biden’s criteria for such sign-off might be?…a deep analysis of which projects offer the greatest economic & resilience benefits to the US economy? Does Biden know the difference between analog, digital, and mixed-signal chips, or what kinds of products might need a 5nm chip or better, or what an FPGA is?…Does anyone in his cabinet have the interest and ability to understand what the best strategic investments would be?

Decision criteria will be largely political, I feel sure, ranging from what geographical areas are most important from an election POV to which companies are most synced up with the most approved forms of Wokeness.

Time for a change - absolutely.

Let's be clear here. McConnell didn't oppose Garland because of some 'good-government' instincts. And he didn't oppose Garland out of any 'respect for the judiciary'. And he didn't oppose Garland because he was implementing some grand GOP designs for the judiciary.

McConnell opposed Garland because Obama was the lamest of lame ducks, and McConnell know that he could squeeze the Hildabeasrt for 'a lot' with a SC nomination right out of the box (don't kid yourself - McConnell expected HRC to win that election, no question about it), and that would put him in the cat-bird seat; GOP Senate before (54) - GOP Senate after (52). With Trump's history and judicial campaign promises to fulfill, McConnell immediately pivoted to a Federalist Society supporter in order to lock up support from Trump and the grass roots - the Gorsuch nomination did exactly that.

No, it's time to Move On - but don't expect that to happen.

GOPe is there to posture as opposition, then lose.

I have to give Mitch credit for blocking Garland but there's not much else I can give him credit for. Being from Illinois I hope for other republicans to save us, sadly it's a losing battle.

You're implication is that Mitch got outsmarted. I disagree. This is by design. Why did GWB junior never veto a bill? It's the Demapublican party. Mitch accomplished exactly what he wanted.

Mr. Carter, are you still confident in the S&P going to 3200? Is this recent uptick just a bear market rally? It seems that way to me. Trying to decide whether to buy a few more SPXU's.

Thanks. Love your content, even if I do have to correct you now and then:).

Bear market rallies happen. This is a relief rally. What's underpinning it? Good numbers? Corporate earnings? Irrational exuberance? My friend @DCPCooks looked at a monthly chart and the candle for July is inside the range for the candle for June....not a good sign for the bulls

The reason Republicans will not take the Senate is not McConnel its Trump. The maniac candidates he's backed is killing our chances. This bill won't get one Republican vote how is that McConnel's fault?

Trump??? I do think Trump screwed up in GA and cost them two Senate seats. But, we will see in November. If Republicans run on school choice, smaller govt, less spending they can win---but they have to actually do something. 40 years of running on that with nothing happening means nothing is happening.

You realize who put McConnell, the most effective majority leader of recent times, in his current situation?

Mr. "Nobody's gotten to the bottom of 9/11, unfortunately", LIV loving narcissist. He screwed the Rs in the senate in 2020. Now his favorites of Oz, Vance, and Walker are all on track to lose in fairly easily winnable states and keep the senate in D hands.

The Ds totally suck on policy. But the Rs are up for giving them a run for their money. They're both about spending money without paying. The only difference is which constituency gets the largess.

I think Vance will win. Walker probably will win. Oz, don't know. Hispanics became R's under Trump and so did a lot of Blacks. Certainly, blue collar people did. Electorate shifting. Trump is the exact wrong candidate for 2024 as much as he was exactly the right one for 2016. Bulls in China shops work only so long. Next person needs to execute and take a meat cleaver to the size, scope, and role of govt. Seems like its a job for DeSantis or Youngkin.
