The hoppin’ John and Gumbo Z’Herbs went down a lot rougher yesterday.

Yesterday, two terrorist attacks on US soil. Both terrorists were ex-Army. Remember when an Army psychologist executed the terror attack at the Army base in Texas? West Point graduated a communist who is now a grad student at the University of Texas. What is going on in the Army?

All of these people have been radicalized. These were US citizens attacking their own country they had once pledged to defend. Roger Simon writes about it here. Is there any core belief difference between what happened when Constantinople fell and what happened yesterday?

Again, what’s going on in the Army? General Milley who was Chief of Staff and General of the Army was a pro-Deep Stater. Princeton man. Lloyd Austin the current Secretary of Defense is a pro-Deep Stater. Ex-Army man. West Pointer.

My friend Craig Pirrong writes about admission requirements and DEI here. He highlights a lawsuit against the Naval Academy but frankly, all the Academy’s leadership has gone woke. They aren’t “gone” yet, but there is mold in the fermentation.

Ramming attacks are a new strategy. Remember the German Christmas market just a few weeks ago? The “Religion of Peace” it is not.

Mainstream news organizations were falling all over themselves to not identify either action as terrorism or associated with radical Islam. “Truck Down Bourbon Street and Kills People”. Was it Waymo? They don’t understand how they continue to discredit themselves by not pointing out the obvious.

I live in Las Vegas. Seeing a Tesla Cybertruck get blown up in front of Trump Tower was shocking in a town that regularly has shocking things happen on Fremont Street all the time. I have stayed at Trump Tower. If you like to shop, a fantastic location. Fashion Show, one of the Strip’s big malls is across the street. If you like to gamble, no casino so it’s a bit of a walk to lay some money down.

Waking up to the carnage in New Orleans was more unsettling. I have spent quite a bit of time there. On my second trip there in the early 90s I stayed at the Royal Sonesta. That’s where the terrorist stopped his truck and got out to start shooting. Of course, when I was on the WW2 Museum board I was there a lot and I have two trips planned for this Spring.

Everyone likes to say about places, “It’s a great city.” and New Orleans has some things that are certainly great about it. But, New Orleans has a lot of problems too. Violence is a big problem. The city often isn’t safe and that’s due to the culture of the police and broader city management. Once my wife and I were walking from the Marginy back to the Warehouse District and we met an officer just bawling his eyes out in a park. His friend had been shot and killed in his squad car. The criminal was able to get out of his handcuffs and get the officer’s gun, fatally shooting him. New Orleans has been run by Democrats for years. People like the Landrieau’s are good talkers and don’t solve problems.

New Orleans might be the most resilient city in America. It’s just in the DNA there.

But, despite its resiliency, there are still problems there. While it has done a lot since Katrina to revamp the public education system there is still a long way to go. When my father went to grade school there in the 1940s, New Orleans had some of the best schools in the US. It also looks like the city’s hiring practices need retooling given the chief of police was fired in Oakland, CA, and teaches DEI to other officers.

I have a lot of friends in New Orleans. My father spent the early years of his life there while his father worked in the New Orleans Shipyard during the war. My friends are all safe. They generally aren’t on Bourbon Street at three in the morning. But, a lot of people are mourning today. I feel for them.

This shouldn’t have happened. Why weren’t the barriers up? Are physical barriers against DEI?

DEI is the root cause of a lot of hurt in American society. Forced. Manipulated. There is no academic, social, or even human reason for it. It’s spoon-fed Marxism. It gives a stamp of approval to those who want to inflict bad ideology on the United States.

On this blog, I have written about how DEI and woke ESG investment strategies would fail. They did. But, DEI and ESG fail not only in finance but in society at large in anything it is applied. DEI and ESG are signs someone is weak.

We have the data and receipts. Both DEI and ESG fail and the philosophy hurts people. However, those fervent believers in it will bitterly cling to the detrimental philosophy. They will double down and say if we just adjust this one thing.

Joe Biden has hurt America tremendously. His party has followed him into the abyss, willingly. They cover-up, and they use their power to attack anyone who tries to defy them. The mainstream media and Big Tech are in cahoots with them. They do it in the name of power and their interests do not align with individual citizens’ interests. As Karol Markowicz tweeted today, “I’m starting to think “Biden’s decline was the biggest untold story of 2024” is to distract us from “Biden’s corruption was the biggest untold story of 2024.”

Hopefully, that will change.

We on my side of the aisle have been pointing this out for more than 20 years. We knew in the 1990s how corrupt many in government were. We knew they weren’t about what it says in the Constitution regarding human rights and liberty, but just about getting elected and gaining power so they could grift off the taxpayer. Sure, there are some RINO Republicans who aren’t that much different. However, there are fewer of them.

Yesterday was another lesson that their way doesn’t work.
