Very fortunately, the Vegas bomber seemed more interested in making a self-destructive political statement than in harming others. The NOLA attack was successful and partially so because NOLA public security officials are dunderheads. Still, as you write, we have an American military problem when it is Army veterans choosing to cause mayhem and death to American citizens. The arrows point to the military leadership and how disastrous they have been in accommodating radical theories to corrupt these institutions.

Guy in NO was only in for a month. Not much of a veteran.

I thought I read that he had a job with the Army reserves, as an IT Tech? And also read that someone had reported him for radicalism, which was not addressed due to concerns about "racism".

We need to be honest about Islam, which is NOT the religion of peace as GWB inanely stated.

Individual Moslems need to address these issues themselves...funny how those that realize the problems of Islam need to go outside their faith in order to tell the truth...thinking Ayan Hirsi Ali, for example.

No he served for multiple years:

"Jabbar joined the Army in 2007, serving on active duty in human resources and information technology and deploying to Afghanistan from 2009 to 2010, the service said. He transferred to the Army Reserve in 2015 and left in 2020 with the rank of staff sergeant"

Trump is going to take a blowtorch to the leftist scum and they know it. These are the dying gasps of a defeated Anti American regime.

I admire your sentiment and wish to encourage everyone. That being said, Being of advanced age, nearly 75, Our society's problems are over 50 years old and run very deep. We must resurrect American Exceptionalism . . . in deed and attitude.

Can’t do a virus again, so how about starting a holy war? Whatever it takes to protect our democracy from Trump, right?

Army guy here, combat vet (yes, I did). I would caution all about painting veterans (they also serve who stand and wait) as something nefarious. And that includes the tiresome, repeated pleas for assistance to our "wounded warriors, etc". None of this helps with recruitment - and we will all need replacements some day.

Bigger picture, for me, is a failure of current leadership (that includes almost every one of our current officer corps) and the apparent total abandonment of anything resembling a martial culture (American people voted for Clinton, not Bush, Sr. and they never looked back).

Agree. 99.9% of vets are not nefarious. Agree strongly about leadership of the military. It's not good

The nitwit terrorist in New Orleans was only in the Military for a month. Never made it to Basic.

Was interesting to find out that New Orleans schools were best in USA, not that long ago. We went to a couple museums (including WW2) a few years ago visiting Tulane. They had a great public/private system. Mostly ruined

Get it, but still in. I have friends who fought in the War on Terror who have said there are plenty of people in the military and armed bureaucracies of government who in a fight between Big Govt Socialism and Small Govt Liberty would choose Big Govt, mostly because they want their pensions

I enjoy the laments of the Post 42 Legion members who completely refuse to pay for parking at Evanston Hospital. Preferring to drive 38 miles to (not very good) North Chicago VA to get free parking. I actually spoke to Mike Bost about it (and he is Chair of Veterans affairs) and he stated that there is a voucher program available for parking at non-VA hospitals.

I think he completed that, but the Vets still drive to North Chicago because they like to complain.

Also Post 42 is approximately 25 yards from the entrance to Evanston Hospital, and the same guys park there all day while enjoying frozen pizza and beer. Just can't be persuaded to pay to park about 15 yards close to the hospital.

Same age as me, I remember when she became police chief in Oakland as I lived there at the time (finally left at the end of 2017, the year she became chief). Some folks weren't too happy with the fact she came out of Chicago, whose police force didn't have a great reputation. And before that, Spokane. An excerpt from a local Oakland news outfit:

She served as Oakland's police chief from 2017 to 2020.

She was the city's first female police chief.

Kirkpatrick was fired three years later by an independent commission.

She sued, claiming wrongful termination for exposing corruption and abuse of power within the department and received a $1.5- million dollar settlement.

She was hired by New Orleans in 2023.

This aging battle axe hit two people while she was driving a squad car on duty in August. While she is 65 she does look 82. Please tell me she doesn't carry a weapon...other than her squad car.

Spend a little time with Robert Spencer and "once you see it, you cannot unsee it". He's not racist whatsoever, just pragmatic about islam. Fitting for the left leaning folks to slobber all over islam and put it on a pedestal.

Once they are the majority, there is no turning back. You've been conquered.

Interesting that this latest attack used an EV. Fast and super heavy, perfect for squashing people.

Happy New Year!

My son is applying to service academies. So scary the degree/amount of DEI. It's so wrong...

He will be fine. He can ignore some of the bullshit they teach with regard to DEI and by the time he gets there, Trump might have ended it. My friend Rudy's son is at the USAFA and is loving it. It's not for everyone (I am a drop out).
