I am in Chicago right now seeing my new grandson. While here, they had a primary election. The State’s Attorney’s race was the one to watch. It pitted a traditional liberal Democrat, Eileen Burke with a Chicago Teacher’s Union/Toni Preckwinkle socialist/communist Democrat Clayton Harris.
Fortunately, the mansion tax the communist mayor proposed failed and the margin was so big, the CTU Machine couldn’t steal it.
Only about 20% of eligible voters voted, and it’s taking them at least six days past the election to count all the votes. Every single one of these people is responsible for making fraud easier.
But, the State’s Attorney’s race was closer. Lo and behold after all the ballots were practically counted they “found” another mail-in ballot dropbox full of 10,000 ballots that were not postmarked or dated. They are counting them now.
Amazingly, the lead that Eileen Burke had has shrunk to 1.8%, or 2000 votes. There are still enough ballots left to count to put her rival over the top.
Some people want to fight. But, how do you fight a machine? There is violence. Communists like violence and chaos. How many of them would switch political parties and change their beliefs to fight?
Of course, many like me left. People are still leaving Chicago and Illinois in large numbers. Don’t take my word for it, take Mike Solana’s. Or Wirepoints.
Population crash (in big blue cities only)
The nation’s largest, most important cities have still not recovered from their self-inflicted Covid death spiral. But what’s interesting here is less that people are choosing not to spend all of their money to live in crime-ridden hell holes once they have kids, it’s that rent — especially in New York — has been skyrocketing for years, indicating the opposite of decline. Why? Local political thugs have built bad housing policy for decades (anti-building regulations, disincentives to rent, free housing for the least productive members of society). These policies have compounded, and we are finally reaching a kind of idiot singularity. If the local despots aren’t removed and these policies aren’t gutted, our cities are going to break.
Why is this race important?
Patronage for sure. Political jobs. But there are three real reasons they care about this race and not about the tax issue. They can always bring up the tax issue again. Communists don’t worry about money when their party controls everything else up to the White House. They can find money.
But, owning the State’s Attorney’s office means they can make life miserable for citizens by not prosecuting the criminals. Citizens will do anything to have law and order and they will jump through all kinds of hoops and alter their lives to get normalcy. That’s a power play and these communists trade on power.
Second, if they own the office they can commit crimes and they won’t be prosecuted. Do you think anyone is going to investigate Toni Preckwinkle’s offices or her lackeys for any sort of impropriety? No way. They are accountable to no one.
Third, as we have seen in both Georgia and New York, Communist Democrats have used the courts to attack political rivals. If there is a way to use the Chicago courts to attack political rivals, owning the State’s Attorney’s office helps.
Let this be a lesson to Republicans. As Stalin said, it’s who counts the votes. The Democrats won’t just use lawfare to try and steal elections. They won’t just make laws that ease their ability to cheat. They will brazenly do it in plain sight all under the cover of a willing media with no remorse, conscience or worry about being prosecuted.
You might say “It’s never been proven that the election in 2020 was stolen.”. It hasn’t. But, it’s never been thoroughly combed through objectively either. There is enough statistical evidence to send a smoke signal that something might have happened. There is circumstantial evidence too.
However, the main problem is the procedures. Mail-in ballots are ripe for fraud. Drop boxes are ripe for fraud. Early voting is ripe for fraud. Millions and millions of illegals crossing the border invite fraud. Deliberately bad voting rolls are ripe for fraud. Voting machines that can be programmed are ripe for fraud.
Until we get rid of that stuff and go to voter ID, very strict absentee ballot procedures, and clean voter rolls, we will have controversies over elections.
We all like to dream about libertarian societies and how great they would be. However, that implies that every citizen has morals and doesn’t succumb to the human foibles of lust for power. That’s why libertarians miss their mark and the Founder’s had it right.
The USA looks like a 3rd world country. Florida addressed most of the issues after the 2000 election. The right way for mail in ballots is to require them to be returned by Election Day and start counting before Election Day. In IL the votes need to be postmarked by Election Day and received within 14 days (!) after Election Day.
Do note that while it is tempting to say the fix is in, Burke campaign manager and Ald. Ray Lopez do not believe there are any issues with the counting other than communication.

IL's procedures make room for mischief, real or imagined.
Wow! If I didn't read Jeff's blog, I'd still think Burke had won fairly decisively.
I was the Republican Committeeman of the 48th Ward from 1998-2008. (Foster to Devon, the Lakefront to Clark St). I grew up there, and until the early 1970's, Edgewater was one of Chicago's few Republican strongholds. Things have been going downhill since, so as of this morning, Harris leads Burke, 56-44. Granted, this was a Dem primary result so we can assume that the few right wingers left in the 48th pulled a GOP ballot, but even if I add those GOP ballots to Burke's total, she still would've lost the 48th.
Leaving Chicago for good was the single most satisfying decision I've ever made. Born and raised and I haven't so much as set foot in Illinois in the 16 years since I boogied on down the road.
