The USA looks like a 3rd world country. Florida addressed most of the issues after the 2000 election. The right way for mail in ballots is to require them to be returned by Election Day and start counting before Election Day. In IL the votes need to be postmarked by Election Day and received within 14 days (!) after Election Day.

Do note that while it is tempting to say the fix is in, Burke campaign manager and Ald. Ray Lopez do not believe there are any issues with the counting other than communication.

IL's procedures make room for mischief, real or imagined.

Wow! If I didn't read Jeff's blog, I'd still think Burke had won fairly decisively.

I was the Republican Committeeman of the 48th Ward from 1998-2008. (Foster to Devon, the Lakefront to Clark St). I grew up there, and until the early 1970's, Edgewater was one of Chicago's few Republican strongholds. Things have been going downhill since, so as of this morning, Harris leads Burke, 56-44. Granted, this was a Dem primary result so we can assume that the few right wingers left in the 48th pulled a GOP ballot, but even if I add those GOP ballots to Burke's total, she still would've lost the 48th.

Leaving Chicago for good was the single most satisfying decision I've ever made. Born and raised and I haven't so much as set foot in Illinois in the 16 years since I boogied on down the road.

This might be the most outrageous vote steal in my 60+ years of living in Chicago (wasn't born in time for the 1960 election).

I did get a good laugh out of someone online calling for an FBI investigation. We all know they are too busy writing down license plates numbers of Catholic Latin Mass attendees and telling FB and Instagram what posts to take down.

You hit the nail on the head w this post. The comment tho that she didn’t have enough votes is intriguing. If Harris wins, it’s lights out Chicago for sure. We dumped our house last year. Best decision we ever made.

To describe the Chicago Dem Machine to people who have not lived in Chicago, I always say that “they’re just like the Mob but without the killing”.

States Attorney is very powerful in Cook County. Something like 700 attorneys, 1200 employees and no oversight board. Full power is in the executive.

I can't understand why the Republicans don't act. Are they happy with the crumbs? The leftist Dems offer a great template on how to organize and GOTV. But 80% of voters did not show up. Can't figure it out. And even if there was no overt ballot stuffing, there is still legalized cheating, as the thousands of blank ballots floating around the country. And yes, they are taxing and annoying us out of blue states, just like Mayor Curley did 100 years ago. https://www.nber.org/papers/w8942

One thing you don't mention is that, despite nothing being proven in a court (yet), the analysis of Dominion voting machines by Alex Halderman showed that they were in my opinion designed to make it easy to fraud and not be auditable.

I have no idea how the other voting machine products work but I would be unsurprised to learn that they have similar design issues

It's getting better. I only got 2 ballots mailed to me in the most recent primary election, unlike the 4 ballots I got for the 2020 Presidential election.

Welcome back to the "Jungle" Mr Carter! Congrats on the new grandchild! He's probably already registered as a Democrat....

There is nothing that can shock me about Chicago politics.

Unless a Machine supporter gets caught cheating. Now that would be shocking. Go ahead and work an election in Chicago and try reporting cheating and see what happens to you. 😄 It's no different than the third world nations so don't fool yourself.

Stepped away from politics years ago because the corruption and slime just got to be too much. Nobody wants to take action against anybody else unless it makes the news and they don't have a choice.

Simultaneously laughable and pitiful

Their game plan is to demoralize voters that contribute the most so eventually the tail wags the dog.

To your litany of "ripe for fraud" I'd like to add (in)auditability as a further problem facilitating (or shielding) fraud. If elections cannot be 100% audited (for lack of funding, supposedly) and audit failures don't result in overturning elections, then elections are ripe for fraud.

Localities with all-mail-in-elections routinely do simple recounts where they sometimes find 5% to 10% more ballots than envelopes, as well as some percentage of envelopes without valid signatures or other technical defects. But once the ballots have been pooled, how can you tell which ones are defective? There is no way. There are only two possible solutions: count all the ballots, or count none of them. And we never chose to count none of them.

The corruption in Chicago/Cook County is sickening.

Trouble is, as former alderman and current UIC professor emeritus Dick Simpson wrote in his book about Chicago/Cook County corruption, there is perverse pride in that corruption.

I agree with Simpson’s take. In a weird way, taking part in Chicago/Cook County corruption makes certain people feel like they are ‘on the inside,’ as in: ‘I gotta gie dat can fix dat.’

Punch 10!

The Purges aren’t just going to start from nothing comrade. Commies need POWER. And they will get it by any means necessary. Stealing elections isn’t much of a stretch.
