one thing conservatives need to do is remake the entitlement state. Over 70% of the federal budget is predetermined spending on entitlements. Ending them, and remaking them is a great idea for taxpayers.
"When you are in that business, you deal with lots of independent contractors. He truly could connect with them and understood what motivates them. Beltway people don’t get them. They are uncomfortable around them."
There was a saying in the Middle Ages: "No man without a master". I believe we have a fair number of people in the US today...especially but not only in the Democratic Party...to whom the prospect of masterless men is disturbing.
Not that anyone will give a shit about my personal experiences but I had lunch with a gal in Santa Cruz last week: hint it's a liberal zone. She works for the valley's largest employer. I'm an independent business person running my own practice. She asked if I were vaccinated and I said that I'm not afraid of covid and no due to my health status and lack of exposure to a lot of folks. She then extended the claws and accused me of being a Republican. No questions, no discourse, just the equivalent of shooting me in the head. She was "nice" for the next 15 minutes and then ran away. Oh, she also did point out that everyone is stupid outside of the "educated" coasts earlier in our meeting.
No such thing as personal choice. You either fall in line, or you're ostracized. Haha, nobody on the conservative side ever realized this before :)
I've written it before and I'll write it again: Dwight D Eisenhower was probably the most underrated President.
The first political party to establish a platform that resonates with the common Man will be the one to take control.
Unfortunately the majority of elected officials in our country are still out of touch with the middle class that they are living caricatures of themselves
