I see the weather service in Chicago issued a “heat warning”. It’s 90 degrees with humidity. When I was a kid, it just meant I could get loose faster shooting baskets on the blacktop.
Now, because weather is politicized it makes frightened Karen moms look up from their phones, take a sip of chardonnay (or maybe rosé this time of year), and tell the children to come to the air conditioned inside and watch television.
I can remember car trips in a 1965 Ford station wagon with no a/c. Global warming is a made-up idea in which politically connected scientists can apply for a river of grant money to support themselves. Those of us who are aware enough have known it for years.
We have spent trillions on solar and wind. It works on your house, but not for an on-demand energy economy. China is building energy power plants like crazy. We are behind because we engaged with this politicized folly, and our court system has enabled radical environmentalists who care more about instituting Marxism than the environment.
We have closeted Marxists running our courts. Judge Boasberg is but one example. On the Supreme Court, Ketanji Brown and the wise Latina Sonia Sotomayor rule as Marxists. All their rulings work to centralize power within one federal government. They have perverted the rule of law.
recently uncovered another politicized scandal this past May. I pulled this from X. He is a must-follow on X and, along with this, has uncovered the scandals going on in California, administered by Governor Gavin Newsom. Or is it Newscum? Here is a link to the February substack, but he’s kept pulling the thread on it and uncovering more. This one is more serious than lame scientists raking in taxpayer dollars for experiments and papers that do nothing.
USAID and the CIA helped orchestrate Trump's impeachment. I remember when the elites and my betters told me Trump’s phone call with Zelensky in 2019 was a call that utilized the government to go after political rivals. Turns out, not the case, and the Democrats during the Trump Administration, along with Biden during his administration, used the power of government to go after political rivals and try and engineer a soft coup.
The House of Representatives impeached President Trump in December 2019. Many people may not remember that it was a CIA analyst who was left over from the Obama White House who wrote the memo that led to the impeachment.
The memo and subsequent impeachment were all based on hearsay. The left-wing media ran with it. The CIA analyst had not been in the room with Trump.
This memo relied heavily on a report done by an organization funded by, you guessed it, USAID. Its initial founding funding, tens of millions of dollars, had gone into this group called the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project. OCCRP was created as an extension of the state department and then of USAID.
President Trump’s phone call with Zelenskyy occurred on July 25, 2019. The CIA under John Brennan in 2016 and under Gina Haspel in 2019 attempted to topple the U.S. government—and succeeded in 2020—all funded by USAID through the extortion of the American taxpayer.
Turns out ivermectin is a decent drug to take to stop Covid. Who knew? Turns out there was a lot of fraud with Covid. Not only with the “vaccine”, but with Covid money that was doled out from the government in buckets to connected cronies. This $250MM scandal in Minnesota is the tip of the iceberg. I was told by my betters and elites to wear a mask, stay six feet apart, wear gloves, and get vaccinated. They were incredibly wrong, and today, I see permanently fearful and mentally damaged mask wearers walking around airports and grocery stores.
It also turns out that the American taxpayer, courtesy of Anthony Fauci, was funding the gain-of-function research that led to COVID-19. My betters and the elites told me it was some wet market in China.
I was told by elites and my betters that if Trump bombed Iran, WW3 would start. Today, Iran asked for a ceasefire. Turns out bunker-busting bombs work better than pallets of cash and harsh words.
I was told by my elites and betters that if Trump bombed Iran, the market would tank and crude oil futures might go to $120. That didn’t happen. The market was up 1%, and with the ceasefire will probably go higher.
I am being told by my betters and elites that because Elon Musk tweeted he was retraining Grok on corrected historical data, we are all of a sudden in a 1984 Orwellian situation. Their hate for Musk knows no boundaries. They huddle together on Bluesky like the fallen angels in Paradise Lost, echoing to themselves.
Musk said, "We will use Grok 3.5 (maybe we should call it 4), which has advanced reasoning, to rewrite the entire corpus of human knowledge, adding missing information and deleting errors."
He said he would retrain Grok's latest model on that new base of knowledge to be free of proverbial waste. "Far too much garbage in any foundation model trained on uncorrected data."
My elites and betters forget Google’s AI had the US Founders as Black. They forget that Wikipedia is loaded with left-wing information that is not correct. They forget that Reddit is often just left-wing pablum and restricts right-wing commenting. Try and criticize global warming on Reddit. Your account will be restricted.
AI is only as good as the data it is trained on, and if garbage goes in, garbage comes out. I have argued with Grok when it’s given me responses to questions, and it corrects itself if I prove I am correct.
Who is implementing Orwell?
AI is going to be rapidly adopted. The US economy will see gains like it did when the internet emerged in the 1990s. There is a lot of competition, and that’s going to make it even better. If an AI is trained on bad data, eventually it will get tossed away.
Big time newsman Jake Tapper is trying to sell a book saying the President was unable to competently do the job. We all knew it back in 2020. He was unable to get out of his basement. Jake participated actively in the lie and cover-up. Now he wants to make money off of it. That’s chutzpah.
We were told by elites and our betters that the election in 2020 couldn’t possibly have been stolen. Now, there is all sorts of data coming out that shows it probably was.
The states of Illinois, NY, California, Washington, and Oregon are so horribly mismanaged that they have become unlivable. Their politicians just lie to you. There is no equivalence. People will spin themselves up over putting the Ten Commandments in the classroom, but when people mob and take over a street in some American city, they need understanding, more funding, and midnight basketball. I am not in favor of the Ten Commandments being posted in public school classrooms, but I am in favor of the Pledge of Allegiance being said in front of the US flag.
The news media have done so much damage to themselves that it isn’t worth even paying attention to anymore. Our institutions and government agencies are so politicized and populated with left-wingers that you cannot listen to them.
I was told by my betters and elites that tariffs were inflationary. I blogged that they were wrong. Tariffs are not inflationary. They act like a tax, so things slow down. There isn’t a one-for-one, dollar-for-dollar price effect when a tariff is enacted. I don’t particularly care for tariffs and would prefer they didn’t exist, but the elites were wrong again. Inflation is going down. Countries are coming to the bargaining table and hammering out deals.
John Cochrane has a pretty detailed blog up about Federal Reserve independence. In the old days, the Fed was normally behind the curve. They were reactive rather than proactive. Today, it is hard to see how the Federal Reserve is not at least somewhat politicized, if not wholly politicized.
In states like Illinois, politicians are routinely corrupt. So are the bureaucrats. Over 2600 politicians have been convicted of corruption in Illinois since 1983. For each one, there are legions of people behind them who avoided getting caught. John Kass had a guest writer, Jimmy Banakis, who wrote an excellent column illustrating the corruption and how it all works.
Years pass and the produce shop evolved into restaurants and a coffee distributorship in the following generation. Paying tribute continued to be a cost of doing business in Chicago only now there were now more bureaucrats, sales tax examiners, and inspectors. Most all of them conducted the city’s business with their hand in small businessman’s pocket. Relating the experience to me, my grandfather, normally docile if stock market wasn’t having a down day, would narrow his eyes, lean in, and call the grifters, “dirty bloodsucking sons of bitches.”
Years later, my opening a business in the city meant hiring a facilitator to guide me through the complicated process of who to know and who to pay obtaining all the licenses and inspections. The most galling part of the corruption I experienced was the confident condescension, and arrogance of most officials I had to deal with. They knew they held all the cards, and they had the only table in the casino.
Niall Ferguson is no fan of Trump. But he sees America as a late-stage empire that is failing. Interestingly, Trump might be the only guy who can resurrect and save it. But my betters and the elites won’t see it that way. They can’t think out of the box in their think tanks. The formerly powerful and now not relevant (Obama/Clinton/Bush/Cheney etc) will host temper tantrums publicly and consistently complain. They lost their power, and they want it back. They will use any means necessary to try and revive it.
They used that power to enrich themselves and their pals.
So, yes, taking a sledgehammer and chainsaw to all of it is the way to end it. Thomas Jefferson said this would happen. He was right. Ignore the protestations. There will be some mistakes made. But the opportunity costs for those mistakes are far greater.
Call me crazy but I sense the beads of sweat on your forehead while penning this had little to do with the temperature outside. Justifiable frustration must present itself.
Very well put, and timely. Just waiting for the financial side of political corruption to get a little sun burnt. Not everyone can rely on the Paul Powell banking system anymore.
