Call me crazy but I sense the beads of sweat on your forehead while penning this had little to do with the temperature outside. Justifiable frustration must present itself.
Very well put, and timely. Just waiting for the financial side of political corruption to get a little sun burnt. Not everyone can rely on the Paul Powell banking system anymore.
Well, the lunacy of climate change becoming a hot topic every half generation helped Al Gore sell a lot of books.
The corruption in Democrat-run big cities is so ridiculous as to be something out of the theater of the absurd. Yes, I have personal experience in dealing with it and people very close to me have even more experience. You can get business from those governments without compromising your principles or breaking the law, but it's going to take you 3 to 5 times longer, and you're going to jump through some hoops that will boggle your mind. Obviously you have to have dedication, perseverance and also fairly deep pockets to invest in going after it when it's not a sure thing that you'll get it, but that's part of being an entrepreneur. I was fortunate in my case with Chicago Public Schools, the largest public school system in the country, I had a franchisor partner that owned or franchised 72 other franchises around the country, so when it took me as long as it did to do it legally(being one of five approved medical staffing agencies to provide nurses for one-on-one student services), including having to hand deliver eight paper copies for every correspondence that contained the term "RFP"(yes really, no emails allowed and that was in 2006!) I still had royalty checks coming in, but I literally spent more than half, if not 2/3 of my working hours on just that contract. Our government contracts officer, who had 24 years experience in the military and 14 years in private sector, told our entire firm it was far and away the most convoluted process with which he had ever been involved and I think that speaks volumes. LOL
Take a sledgehammer to the whole thing and rebuild it. 👏
The elites and establishment believe that knowledge equates to good judgement and correct decisions. Instead, while they know a lot of facts they understand almost nothing because they have no common sense. Halberstam in his book THE BEST AND THE BRIGHTEST recognized that this was not praise, but an ironic summary of how wrong they had been about the Vietnam conflict, as the “whiz kid” Robert McNamara wrote about decades later. Now with no irony graduates from elite universities reinforce each other that I fact they are the best and the brightest and deserve to be the architects of public policy. They are the Progressives of the 21st century, and are just as misguided as their predecessors a century ago. Facts and knowledge are only useful when combined with wisdom and insight, which very few of them possess and their hubris is now resulting in their loss of power and their comedic downfall . The activities of the last three days only further show how misguided their beliefs have been. The results in Iran achieved by Trump and Rubio in comparison with Biden and Blinken could not be a better illustration of how much good judgement is crucial to diplomatic success.
One quibble though, are we sure they have knowledge? From working with some of these folks over the years (and managing quite a few from "elite" schools) the depth and range of knowledge was lacking.
You are correct on your frustrations; we did know it, intuitively, and now they are proving us right. It's comforting to know that I'm not the only one that sees these things.
Ah 'coffee distributorship'.... learned that the hard way. You (and I) are not breaking into that industry any time soon.
Probably one of the reasons to make a Godfather IV....Explore the Coffee sales racket in the USA. Super-competitive, but not on price, delivery, quality.
Climate change is real, but it's a CYCLE a thousand years long. At the peak of the LAST cycle, Vikings grew barley and had dairy farms on Greenland - and it was green!
We're about to the peak of this cycle, so the next change will be COLD, probably by 2050. Keep your heavy coats!
The one true thing is that these folks are NOT your elites and betters.
And, as a corollary, the truth is not in them.
Re the Ten Commandments, perhaps it would be a good thing to remind folks not to "bear false witness". (#9) Eric Ciaramella (the person behind Impeachment #1 of Trump) would have benefitted from at least seeing it in his classroom.

What’s a few shoeboxes full of cash between friends?

Excellent essay! Appreciate your references to John Kass articles.
Kass is terrific, I agree.
Amen, brother!

Just vicious and hardball players.

Sadly, this is all too true! Pray for the Republic Mr. Carter! Keep them coming!
