Easy to Monday morning quarterback but we all will. President Biden blew it in Afghanistan and now he has blown it in Ukraine.
Remember, he was talking tough on Putin before and after he was elected.
Also, remember that since 2016 Democrats have tried to tie Trump and the Republicans to Putin. Adam Schiff led hearing after hearing. It turns out, it was Hillary Clinton who planted the seed, paid for it, and was cooperating with the Russians.
Further, when we look at powerful Democratic (and some Republicans like Romney) families, they had their children on the boards of Ukrainian companies making millions of dollars. Those children were unqualified and were only there so there was political cronyism.
When Biden got into office, the first thing he did was kill the American energy juggernaut. That made room for Putin.
That’s the backstory.
As Putin built up troops on all sides of Ukraine, Sleepy Joe was fangless. As we know, sanctions don’t deter dictators. However, Sleepy Joe didn’t do anything with NATO or other allies to form a coalition of the willing like President George Bush Sr. did prior to Kuwait. He didn’t go on television and make a case for defending Ukraine as George Bush Jr did with invading Iraq after 9/11.
Not only did he not engage in productive diplomacy, he sent his VP Kamela Harris to Europe. Here is what she said.
“I mean, listen, guys, we’re talking about the potential for war in Europe,” Harris said at one point Sunday in response to a question about how the Biden administration saw the situation’s “endgame” playing out.
“I mean, let’s really take a moment to understand the significance of what we’re talking about,” the veep went on. “It’s been over 70 years. And through those 70 years … there has been peace and security. We are talking about the real possibility of war in Europe.”
She delivered that brilliant and cogent message with a mask on.
This is not something someone will rally behind and commit blood and treasure for.
On social media, I kept seeing lists of why Ukraine was important. But, with world trade, is there anything Ukraine has that can’t be traded for? Sure, you might pay a higher cost since supply of that good is reduced, but is that higher cost cheaper than the opportunity cost of going to war?
Tucker Carlson nightly said Ukraine was not worth going to war over. As far as I could tell, he didn’t have anyone on his program with any credibility that could make a case for defending Ukraine. None of the other news channels did either.
If you know history, you might remember that General Marshall fired all the generals under him that were older or fought in WW1. That made room for generals like Dwight Eisenhower, Omar Bradley, George Patton and others to rise. They thought differently, and fought differently. It was painful, but America was better for it.
Today, we’d have to act pretty fast. Barack Obama let “woke” generals rise. Our current Chief of Staff, Mark Milley isn’t so much a general but an administrator and politician. It is time to clean house if we want to be serious with people like Putin and Communist Party Chairman Xi. We cannot fight a war like we did the last one.
The President never made a case for going to war either. However, if he would have tried to make the case, he is so ethically compromised because of his prior actions, no one would have taken him seriously. His “10% for the big guy” is worth a bit less than 10% now but it is still a nice chunk of change that will keep his descendants wealthy for years to come if they don’t blow it.
In his press conference that is going on right now as I type, he is weak and incompetent. Biden is playing “Go Fish” and the totalitarian world leaders are playing advanced chess.
It is probably not time to impeach Biden, but he certainly is guilty of impeachable offenses. Remember, impeachment is pretty general but boils down to politics. People possessing ethics in Biden’s party ought to be talking about it if any of them exist. Let them bring impeachment to the Republicans. Maybe Jack Reed? He’s a Democratic Senator and West Pointer.
Any massive disruption in leadership must come from the Democrats prior to an election. They will have to decide what to do with Kamela who would rise to be their standard bearer.
America is in an awful pickle. It’s the leadership, not the people. That includes the military.

If we took things seriously in the west this wouldn't have happened but we choose to fight the ongoing daily battles of first-world problems and an obsession with all things woke. We have allowed the west to be perceived as soft, weak, peevish, silly. Putin made a smart move; I don't like it, but it was very adept play. Now, the Chinese need to take Taiwan - and who's going to stop them?
To blame Biden is easy. The truth is we brought this on ourselves.
