I have known a couple of people similar to your description of Paul. All have imparted wisdom to those that knew them and all, without exception, have enriched the lives of others.
Indeed. When you have seen the worst of humanity it is the only choice. Many of us have experienced some very nasty stuff and you have to be an optimist, otherwise you go down some dark paths.

I have tried hard to emulate the people in my life who embody that spirit and holy cow, it's a heck of a lot easier said than done. LOL
However, I find it tremendously rewarding when I do so. I thank him for his service. I thank you for bringing it to our attention.
