This REALLY works for mosquitos. Kills all the eggs. I'm on the coast of MA and I sent two of them up to VT to my sister-in-law on the shores of Lake Champlain.
Guy is all technical. Doesn't have slick marketing skills, but his product ROCKS! He also personally answers tech questions in email.
(Actually, I think you could make a ton of money by backing him to make it big. All of the big pesticide guys would hate you.)
GREAT. No mosquitos. And these are solar powered. Just have to keep water in them. We are in a severe drought and I've had to fill them about once a week or once every two weeks. The big guys will hate this because you don't have to keep on buying things for it, but it WORKS. We need funders to fund things that actually work without having additional revenue streams, like vaccines that don't require boosters every 3 months. ;)
You need to take the water out, unhook the battery (maybe take the battery? or buy a new one every year (not sure how long rechargable batteries will last after a long winter outside) and leave the device.
I just plan on bringing mine indoors. Although, I'm not the expert on the device. This is my first summer with it.
BTW, if my neighbors and I all bought them I suspect we'd still have a lot of mosquitoes.....and black flies, and biting flies, and wasps, and hornets, and yellowjackets! The forest is a big place....
I live in the suburbs on the coast north of Boston. We don't have black flies or biting flies, but my sister-in-law in VT has all sorts of nasties. She told me that she couldn't go outside earlier in the summer because of the mosquitos, I sent her up two of those devices and she seems happy. My son visited and said there weren't any mosquitoes, but, as you said, there were other flying critters.
Discipline. Discipline. Discipline.
I like finviz.com. But what the hell do I know, ha. Enjoyed to hear about your trip.

Imagine if you and all of your neighbors got them.
Thanks! I know of some propane powered ones. Maybe it would work! How did your sister do?

Can you winterize them? I wouldn't want to haul them back and forth. It gets -15 below F at our cabin.
