I hope and pray if this happens tomorrow that the gop doesn’t spend the next two years on an impeachment tear. Craft sound policy. Let Biden or whomever veto everything, and run on that in two years. It’s not hard to do

Agree. Let the Dems bring impeachment. I think it's okay to investigate the Hunter laptop, let all the information out, and let the public see/decide. But, bring good policy. School choice ought to be first.

Since the Republicans are going to be blamed for everything that the Democrats did in the last two years, I hope they have a strategy designed to counter this.

I agree with you that school choice and education needs to be their first focus. They need to keep the suburban women on their side by showing some actual results. Focus on reducing spending and increasing energy production to address inflation. Then address crime, especially the Soros DA’s. Then tie the border problems and fentanyl problems together and work on them.

Investigations are OK to reveal the truth, but impeachment is a losing strategy.

Whatever the Republicans do, they need to explain to the public what they are doing, and why they are doing it. DO NOT assume that the public understands policy. They need to take the time to explain their actions and establish a bond with all of the new Republican voters.

Key: Impeachment is a losing strategy. But, doing a transparent investigation into Biden corruption isn't. Let the Dems bring impeachment.....

By the way, if they do investigate all that Hunter bs, I predict articles of impeachment will be brought by Chuck Schumer before the end of the investigation. They have to stop the bloodletting before 2024, and Joe is not going to be the standard bearer......Jared Polis will be their nominee

While I appreciate your optimism, I can't help but be cynical with all of the talk of days or weeks of counting votes and ABC coming out with their "Red Mirage" post. When we start talking about long counts, I reflexively think back to the tales of the two LBJ campaigns for Senate in the 40s, detailed in "Means of Ascent" by Robert Caro (as well as the suspicious vote dumps in 2020). I have no confidence that the Democrats will just let the GOP run away with this.

It's a fair point but I think the pre-election conniption virtually every Dem had nationally was internal polls show what's really going on. Mark Elias and his binder full of lawyers are the only thing that can save them now.

I hope you’re right. Voting in DuPage this morning was a clusterf, though, and it’s no coincidence that Dems took over the county board recently. It’s the first election since I moved here 20 years ago that I didn’t feel good about.

I cannot ever remember a mid-term election generating so much interest. A sign of the times, but a good one, I think. It's better than the days in 80's/90's and early aughts when apathy ruled the day. There are still a lot of misinformed people, but we have to start somewhere. Policy truths have a way of wriggling their way to the surface.

Tomorrow I will be watching it on CNN. I never watch CNN any other time of the year, because I can't stand their "personalities." But tomorrow I watch because they have great coverage and--most importantly--I like watching their pinched faces look absolutely astonished and then forlorn that the people "let them down." It's the best entertainment.

Which channel or news source will everyone else here be watching tomorrow?

I’ll be following everything online. I’ve given up with televised coverage. When I’m online I control the content and advertisements. I can also access multiple sources with differing opinions and storylines much quicker than changing channels. It’s just more efficient overall.

I do that too. I usually look at Real Clear Politics and then a couple of blogs Instapundit and Ace of Spades HQ.

Do you follow anything specific online? I'm always interested in what people are reading that I have not yet seen.

I’m all over the place, and I’ll visit sites than I might not necessarily agree with or that I view as not trustworthy, just to see the overall themes they’re trying to push. For example, Drudge is pretty useless, but I’ll glance at it occasionally to see what their current agenda is. I’m always looking for original thinking, which is hard to come by because everyone follows the herd, or for exceptional writers, so I’ll quickly cycle through many sites looking for a nugget or two. Lately I’ve liked some articles I’ve found on the American Conservative and RVIVR sites.

I follow or glance at the three sites you listed, especially Instapundit, but I’ll spend a few minutes perusing each of the following, in no particular order, more like turning the pages of a newspaper: Just the News, Ricochet, Powerline, Althouse, American Thinker, Hot Air, Red State. I’m not an absolute fan of any of these sites, but here and there I’ll find points of interest, and I find it useful to contrast all of them. I also like listening to Scott Adams daily YouTube broadcast because he has a unique spin on things.

Nice view from your new digs! Kari Lake is a major-league talent. AM show I listened to this morning, the guys talking about group think. And like, how the F any sane person can sync with the BS from MSNBC. It's outlandish. All a projection, if you ask me. But if you hear it enough times, it somehow makes sense for the believers. NO knocking sense into them.

Great post as always!

I had missed this post yesterday as I was working our local polling place. Our voting district is widely viewed as purple, leaning red. Most Rs on the ballot: Governor, Senator, state senator and state rep, won by 100 votes out of 1,200 cast. The exception was our governor candidate, Doug Mastriano, who I have met and spoken with and liked a lot.

Despite those optimistic numbers, we lost all four races. All of them. Not a good day.

To your point about leftists being religious zealots (not your words.) I was wearing my Mastriano for Governor shirt, when a voter came up to me and said he wouldn't vote for "that guy" if he were the only one running. I just nodded. He then yelled, "he's a fascist. A Fascist." I asked him to please define the word. He was unable to. I guess to a loony dem, a person who believes in smaller government, individual liberty and the rule of law is a fascist. I learn something new every day.

This not an original thought, but both parties seem to be committed to representing a minority of Americans. People want normalcy not revolution.

Hopefully the results will doom the "big announcement" at Mar a Lago next week. Winnable elections were lost due to subservience to the vanity of one giant narcissist. Election denial was a loser last night. Lots of house cleaning is needed.

I wish there were Rs in congress that really wanted to reduce the scope of government, but I don't think there really ever have been in at least 50 years. Even Reagan couldn't get them to do it. Now the whole country, even most Rs, are for free sh*t for everyone. I like school choice, but for whatever reason it does not move the needle much. Most people seem to like their schools and people who don't either move or pay $. Even in Chicago, with the horrid state of its public schools, most people just don't seem to care much. It's very unfortunate.

Hopefully this outcome will help make 2024 a contest that is between competents and not a clown show.
